    Diezel VH4 Questions

"I have a musicomlab III (but not the plus). I have very little midi experience. Does anybody know if I can use it to switch the channels on the VH4?" - What is the diffrence between Plus and Non-plus versions? I have no personal experience on this pedal, but as at least the Plus version is able...

What's the difference between Herbert 2+, and 3?

My Herbert is from 2007 and in my opinion the Ch3 has more low end and is more loose in its bottom when compared to Ch2+. Especially true with 8-string guitars. When using exact same cab with same mic configuration and SPL-levels, this is also visible graphically in my recordings. Using mid-cut...

    VH4 Question

I own 2005 and have played older and newer versions. I could say there is small difference, but not anything significant. This is especially true if you take into account how much all other equipment in the chain will impact the tones. And most importantly, they all sound absolutely great!!

    Scratchy pot question

Was one of these in my Herbert which visited your shop last winter?  Ilkka from Finland

    7-String with VH4

7 and 8 strings here with VH4 (and Herbert at home). Passive pickups are definitely my choice. One thing to keep in mind that nowadays there are also 7 and 8-string passive pickups in EMG-size housings available for neat swapping.

    Curious about Diezel.....

Go and test drive. But remember that Diezels do respond very nicely to different cabs and guitars, so take that into account when testing and judging the tones.

    Post your Diezel settings

Zeezuz those VH4 settings are bass heavy and Motörhead loud! Not saying that they wouldn't work, but found them odd as I never turn the bass or deep above 11 o'clock even when playing with 8-strings. I also agree what is stated above that Diezels do love midds. EDIT: fixed a typo

    Diezel VH4 or Bogner uberschall?

Both are wonderful amps. I would consider VH4 to be more versatile and dry (very focused midds), but on the other hand Bogner being a bit more "loose" (in a very good way) and thick. Personally I would say Überschall is closer to Herbert than VH4, but some might disagree on that. You MUST try...

    Herbert toggle switches

Haven't seen that kind of switches in Herbert before, but if you got the amp new from store and they are performing perfectly I wouldn't see a big issue here. Im sure Peter himself will confirm you what's the story of these. If needed throw him an e-mail or give a phone call.

I'm a Diezel noob so bear with me please......

Yep, as Steve stated majority of those cables which have 5-pins connected do work, but there are some exceptions. I have made all my MIDI-cables inside my rack by myself so as long as you know how to solder and do have steady-enough hands you can build your own in worst case scenario of no...

I'm a Diezel noob so bear with me please......

All MIDI-controllers that are capable of sending Program Change -messages should be perfectly fine. Based on quick look in Internet, FC300 should meet this requirement. Also, programming of any Diezel is extremely straightforwarded process. As a owner of VH4, a VH4 would be my recommendation...

    BKP Pickups - Nailbomb

Or have fun and do it yourself with sulfuric acid or hydrogen peroxide and saltwater. Paint splashes is another option for a bit different look - Though might get removed due to mechanical wear, but can easily be made again. Also controlled burning with a torch gives nice characteristics.

Pin Sikth (Herbert/412FK) and wife Leah Woodwind (VH4/412FC)

For the one Pin is using Im absolutely sure and for the one Leah is using Im 99% sure. I know Pin has been a long-time BM user and there are many distinct details that are so familiar to my own guitar that I dare to be so sure. To JimmyBlind, I agree with you. As chaotic as it is there is...

Pin Sikth (Herbert/412FK) and wife Leah Woodwind (VH4/412FC)

Nice, have always liked Pin's stuff! Not to mention that it always makes me happy to see Blackmachines being used properly....hmmm...maybe it is a time for an 8-string tapping-jam here...walks to heat-up Herbert...neighbours, wife and closeby animals, be prepared...

    BKP Pickups - Nailbomb

Unfortunately cannot give you such A/B comparison as I did not put the RYs to exactly same LP. But I had another LP with RYs installed at the same time so had the possibility to compare almost identical guitars' tone (both Gibson, same woods, etc.). The RYs are definitely going to stay on both...

    BKP Pickups - Nailbomb

As can be read in my signature: 2x LPs with Rebel Yell -set 1x RG7 with Alnico Black Hawk -set 1x RG8 with Black Dog -set LPs with Rebel Yell -sets sounding the best out of the above. I had a LP with Nailbomb set, but sold that. Somehow it was not working for me well enough.

    So when??????

Did I understand correctly that you state that you are not able to phantom power Z-12 from your Diezel head? That is because Engl uses different pins for phantom power so you need to modify your cable to accommodate this. Not a big job either to yourself (if you know how to solder) or someone...
