Diezel Herbert at 120 watts vs 180 with Mesa Recto 2x12 cab

I fully agree, and it is definitely wise to pay attention to those figures. But there is no need to be overly concerned as long as one plays with volumes lower than what makes ears bleed. What comes to the second question of tubes, I would never start to pull-out tubes. The master volume works...

Diezel Herbert at 120 watts vs 180 with Mesa Recto 2x12 cab

A comment based on years of experience and not from "engineer whitepaper" view-point. Im using only 2x12" cabs with all my amps (one cab per amp). Playing mainly with 7 and 8-string guitars. All of my cabs are loaded with Celestion V30s. I know that on paper there should be a risk to damage the...

    Diezel User Gallery

Sorry for my bad word selection. Kahawe is correct, I was wondering that what have you programmed that button to do as I was not able to figure out what the label 'Form' could mean.

Nice. Just curious, what is "behind" the button 'Form'?

What wah pedal would you suggest to go with the Diezel Vh4?

Are you unhappy with your current wah or are you wanting to change the wah for another reason? My point being that fixing a wah pedal is not really difficult. At the end I have always gone back to Dunlop Cry Babies. In my main rig I use the older rack wah (with VH4 and Mako) and at home 535Q...

    2005 VH4

In terms of tone the statement "There are no big updates till 2007" is giving a bit incorrect impression. At least how I felt the difference was not "big" by any means. 2005 should not lack bass nor treble, but 2007+ will give you still more of them. I have no idea what kind of tones 'kalt' is...

    2005 VH4

I have a 2006 VH4 and have played the newer revision. No significant difference in my opinion. More gain (honestly, who needs?) and less compression in high frequencies they say - So perhaps someone might call the later revision a bit more brighter. But in my opinion the tone is already perfect...

    What Mic to record a Diezel VH4 + 4x12 RL Cab w/ V30s?

Sennheiser e906 and MD421, Shure SM57 and SM7B, Audix D4, and AKG 214 have been my choices for VH4 with V30-cab.

hum noise issue in vh4 loop...

You have quite commen problem for a setup that has units connected in-front and in the loop. Most likely your equipment has now two (or more) routes to ground causing a ground-loop. As 'elfredo' suggested, connect the units in signal chain one by one to identify the trouble-maker. Then if this...

    Diezel VH4 bias 60-70mA (pair)

As there usually is some difference even in matched sets, I would start by setting the bias to 35 mA for the tube having the lowest reading then checking how much is the difference between highest and lowest reading. This usually leads into a bit higher than 70 mA per pair. After that it is all...

    My Hagen strategy backfired

VH4 and Herbert here. Though, I have lately being thinking that I could trade Herbert to Hagen. With VH4, our ways shall never part!

    about Furman power conditioning..

  Well, my case is to confirm that! No problems with VH4. ...actually, I tried also with Herbert, but did not make any difference - All good with my unit.

Tube replacement, how often do you personally replace them?

Approximately once a year for amps that see regular badn usage (rehearsals, shows and recording) and once in two years for those not used "hard" that frequently. But I always have a spareset around as many times there has been a need to replace sooner. I also check the bias every now and then...

    about Furman power conditioning..

Sorry to hear about your problem. To me it sounds very strange and I have no idea what causes this. Naturally this must be in relation to something being altered in the current in side the amp, but without making any measurements its impossible to start making any kind of conclusions. I repeated...

Quick question about muting the Herbert

You are correct. You must send out MIDI Program Change messages from your Boss GT-10 to your Herbert. So in other words, learn how to program the Boss to send out MIDI PC when hitting a preset - Users Manual will be your friend with this one. http://www.bossus.com/backstage/product ...

    Suggestion for Diezel

In situations I cannot play "loud" I use isolation cabs. They do not sound exactly the same as good cabs that are allowed to "breath in open air", but after some experimentation with a bit different micing technique my results have been still much better than with any DIs.
