Oh, gotcha. :D
If you read the original article, it is kinda funny how the takamine guitar the guy is bitching about looks so old. It would be like someone playing a Parker Fly with relic wear :D
my 72 stack:
and a family pic of marshalls and clones - from left to right is a '68 clone, 74 50 watt on a 76 cab, 72, 87 JCM 800, Silver jubilee, 18 watt clone. Not pictured is a '70 100 watt, sold the jubilee.
The cool thing is, how many 23 fret Jacksons are there? :D
The not cool thing is, they had a month for each fret and still fucked it up. And the side dot placement is messed up too.
I ordered a custom Tom Anderson - had a solid rosewood neck, custom oversize neck, hollow body, flame maple top...
I'd buy an old guitar that was worn, but not so much for a new guitar that was beat looking. That's my personal opinion, I think it's nuts to pay someone to put wear/damage on guitars, but if someone wants to do it I don't care, doesn't hurt or help me either way, so why not?
Some of you guys...
Owned three, two maple boards and a rosewood w/binding, still have one of the maple boards. Fantastic guitars, all three were light and very resonant. I did put humbucking single coil sized pickups in the bridge of each though, I have to have a bridge HB. Probably the best fender non custom shop...
Depends on the guitar. I have Tom Andersons made of basswood that sound great, every Ibanez I've owned made of basswood weren't very good sounding. It's more than just the wood, imho.
Kemper duplicates the sound of a miked amp. Not real sure how much 'purer' you can get. Axe II is good also, I just prefer the Kemper because once you have an amp miked, 40 seconds later you have it in the Kemper. When you profile an amp, you can compare the original miked sound to the kemper...
First 4x12 I owned was a crate. Sounded horrible. Took out the stock speakers, I swear the magnets on the back were the size of silver dollars and not much thicker either.
If you're playing any high end amp through a marshall 1960 cab (especially with 75s) it's like test driving a ferrari with bias ply tires that are underinflated.
It's weird how we can feel tiny differences though. My last Anderson was custom ordered and I had it built with a .030" oversized neck. It feels like a ball bat (in a good way, I like bigger necks) compared to another one I have, and the difference is .030". I wouldn't think that would be that...
One thing to consider too is if they are selling what they are making now, they don't really have a huge incentive to cater to a smaller market/individual's taste. Not slamming the original poster - there are features I'd love to see on a PRS - stainless frets and birdseye maple boards on Cu22...
Yup! One thing that gives the Kemper fits is having the same rig attached to more than one midi - so if you liked your clean and wanted it to be in several spots, the safest way is to save more than one version. Kinda a pain in the ass, but I have over 800 rigs on my Kemper with no issues.
