10 years ago I had a dedicated cab room and control room all treated. High end mics and mic pres. High end monitors. I’ve gotten much better tones with IRs. Maybe k sucked at recording but I did EVERYTHING one is supposed to do and IRs are better.

The HR and MTL have almost zero in common. The MTL is scooped overall with a huge low end and can saturate nicely. It has and interesting sub bass thingy going on similar to a VH4. The HR feels more like a (very) suped up MC but with tons of options. All that said my MCII and HR are both...

The SK can hang with ANYTHING. Modern as hell with a huge low end yet still sounds like a tube amp. Mids sit perfectly (juicy too). Versatile AF to boot.

My ++ is NOT switchable. But I can adjust the treble volume and gain down to where the + lives but not vice versa. I do agree with everything you said about boosting a +. Just isn’t the same.

My goodness that ++ sounded like shit. Hairy fizzy and loose. Mine sounds nothing like that.

The Wizard punches the hardest and is most balanced. They all sound decent. The VII is a little thin sounding.

No gear is needed….but you’ll never itch that scratch…

I picked up the RI. Previously owned a Dual and Single. They were tubby and shitty. The Dual had to be a G. The RI is waaaaay better sounding than those amps FWIW.

I love learning new songs (covers) because it makes me think and play something I’d never write. Gives me tools to write differently.
