    Hermansson Shootout- Recto vs Marshall

    Both sound killer. The recto was more full and the Marshall had sweeter mids. Hello blend!!!

    Wizard Amp Models

    Worlds apart. In fact, Diezels and Wizards might be the MOST different high gain amps I’ve ever played.

    Gotcha. HR would be the closest IMO.

    Wizard Amp Models

    Hate to burst your bubble... you aren't getting that tone with one amp. There is too much juice and compression on Garage Inc. (in a good way). Much more of a 'metal" tone. The MCII sounds EXACTLY like most of Reload. Less gain with tons of clarity and thump. The first three tracks could...

    For those that owned both, compare the Uber Ultra with the Hell Razor

    Its just different. Sub bass vs bass. Ever played a Diezel? The MTL has that sub bass thing going on.

    Tube amp recording volume. How low can you go? [Updated. Part 2: Straight in]

    10 years ago I had a dedicated cab room and control room all treated. High end mics and mic pres. High end monitors. I’ve gotten much better tones with IRs. Maybe k sucked at recording but I did EVERYTHING one is supposed to do and IRs are better.

    For those that owned both, compare the Uber Ultra with the Hell Razor

    The HR and MTL have almost zero in common. The MTL is scooped overall with a huge low end and can saturate nicely. It has and interesting sub bass thingy going on similar to a VH4. The HR feels more like a (very) suped up MC but with tons of options. All that said my MCII and HR are both...

    For those that owned both, compare the Uber Ultra with the Hell Razor

    The SK can hang with ANYTHING. Modern as hell with a huge low end yet still sounds like a tube amp. Mids sit perfectly (juicy too). Versatile AF to boot.

    NAD: cheap Wizard content (now with clips) - 2nd Update = MTL

    I played my MTL II for an hour yesterday and damn it’s a scooped sound for sure! Plugged into my IIC++ right after and so many more mids even with the classic V setting on the eq. Still like the MTL but it’s for blending with other amps IMO. The low end frequencies sit just right and the...

    Official Mesa IIC++ Reissue?

    My ++ is NOT switchable. But I can adjust the treble volume and gain down to where the + lives but not vice versa. I do agree with everything you said about boosting a +. Just isn’t the same.

    NEW MESA/Boogie ’90s Dual Rectifier, Mark IIC+ and IIC++ Amps | NAMM 2025

    My goodness that ++ sounded like shit. Hairy fizzy and loose. Mine sounds nothing like that.

    Monomyth vs Wizard vs Armored vs Mesa

    The Wizard punches the hardest and is most balanced. They all sound decent. The VII is a little thin sounding.

    The Reissue Dual Rec is Modeled after a Rev G, NOT Rev F

    I picked up the RI. Previously owned a Dual and Single. They were tubby and shitty. The Dual had to be a G. The RI is waaaaay better sounding than those amps FWIW.

    What's with Covers and Chasing After Other Musician's Tones?

    I love learning new songs (covers) because it makes me think and play something I’d never write. Gives me tools to write differently.
