Steve’s old BFG Snorkler still smokes
It may not be a perfect tone match to AiC but it is a wicked sounding hot rodded 2204. I play it all the time.
A lot of fugazi experts out there dying to show you how it’s done, for sure. I don’t sell anywhere near your volume but when i do, I don’t waste time with too much info because I know it’ll only attract more ‘experts’ who aren’t even buying. Legit buyers do not engage in fuckery.
I wish the...
Maiden for me, easy choice. I used to pour over their liner notes because they were like a rig rundown for Adrian Smith and Dave Murray. All their gear was listed out and i would ooh and ah over every entry.
Priest is great too, cannot lose with either.
U2 in '87, Joshua Tree tour, at the Hartford Civic Center. Amazing show and Bono pulled a neighbor friend onto the stage at the end because of the enormous Amnesty International banner he and his gf had.
David Bowie in '83 at the Civic Center as well. He put on a great show.
Yngwie and AC/DC in '85, you are talking about the Fly on the Wall tour, yes?
i saw them too, and Yngwie was exactly as you describe. i had floor seats, first row of the second section back, so a large walkway stretching the length of arena was directly in front of me. very handy for a kid...
Deep Purple, late 80s or early 90s. Jon Lord’s organ was not working for most of the show, it was very Spinal Tap. He kept playing without any amplification.
back on track:
1) George Lynch - i should love him, because i love his contemporaries, but he never did it for me. monster player though. i am not a fan of some of his effects use, that plays a part. i know he's great but i dont get him.
2) Andy McKee - lots of pub when he first emerged, i...
The legends mentioned here, wow this board has high standards lololololol
how about this - Kirk Hammett is most underrated songwriter/riff composer in metal. you cannot be a Metallica fan and dispute that. his credits speak for themselves.
there can be a difference between 'not getting' a...
James' amp shootouts were epic!!! I listened to all of those clips for days. His recordings made me realize how much the speaker cabinet influences the total sound.
I have a JCM800 50w modded to sound like JC's Snorkler and it does Facelift tones pretty well. I'd definitely go with a modded Marshall for the tones you are looking for.
Wow i am stunned. RIP Steve. I havent been here in a while so I am just processing this.
Now I am going to play the Snorkler he originally commissioned from BFG. ??
