someone posted this on the elevenrackforum.com and i think it rocks hard, so here it is:

the preset is absolutely killer for hard rock/metal
i just checked out his website....talk about guitar wood porn? i just want to know how much money it would take to get one of those in my greedy little hands?
if used sparingly, it can enhance your tone. by sparingly, i mean don't turn the knobs up higher than 3-4. BBE was used to compensate for crappy speakers. it basically delays the mids, allowing the highs and lows to come through first. if you use any good speaker, then forget about...
yeah, i'm trying to get all the gain from the amp. with the gain boost engaged it has tons of gain...i guess i could just roll back my guitar volume like i did back in 1990 when i used one of those grey carpet covered half stacks. but it sure would be nice to easily switch the gain on and make...
a friend sent me this link:

that's my kind of tone for sure. i feel GAS starting up again.
i played through one of these heads back in 1990 for one concert (a sound company provided the backline) and i was impressed that the clean was so...
i had both, kept the eleven rack....returned the pod hd 500 within a week. no comparison, the eleven rack sounds and feels more like a real amp. the pod was more brittle and upper mid focused to my ears.
the eleven rack is worth the money for just the Mesa MK IIC amp model alone. but every...
for tone alone...Digitech by far. for effects, the digitech is really nice, especially in 4CM. i thought pod hd500 tone was weak and sterile/brittle...the effects were very nice though.
it's been over a month and i'm still liking this head. here is a quick clip of the basic four presets i have setup with this head and a 2-12" celestion G12T-75 loaded cabinet:

here is my problem with Ola's tone....he can make a turd sound good! so no matter what the hell he plays through, it sounds freaking evil and fantastic. maybe if that new amp sounded like two or three times better than the stuff he has done with shit like line6 pod and the likes, then maybe i...
i listened again from my pc with Altec speakers with subwoofer and i still stand by my first thoughts. i just don't like the Brownbucker at all. that tone reminds me of the time i took some of those pickups out of a Sterling EVH cheapo guitar and put them in an Ibanez rgt42 neck thru mahogany...
first listen is on my laptop with tiny speakers, but i would say the first one sounded a little too raw for me. the second clip was more refined sounding...smoother maybe. i would take the second one based on what i heard on these small speakers.
i recorded this concert twice from the Paladia channel on Dish network, and both times there were some phasing issues going on in the bass. over several minutes the bass/bass drum would be out of phase and disappear. it's said that Vai mixed it himself, so i can't believe he would mess it up...
duncan distortion humbuckers would do the trick. with that bright wood, you could use a tamed top end pickup.
first choice: dimarzio tone zone
second choice: duncan distortion
