Sounds excellent Jeremy, easily as good as the Dinos. Suprised to hear that its tighter, I thought that was the Dino’s claim to fame.
More modern which I like.
Is gain boost engaged via footswitch here?
That sounds like a pretty beastly triple rec haha.
FYI I dont mind the sizzle either, what I more so meant was if you wanted a tone without it you can get it but at the cost of gain and grind so a slight bump is a good medium.
Agreed about the donor, I could still hear the amp (Rev G) that was...
Congrats, they handle ERG’s by far the best of the amps that I’ve tried. Very tight but fat.
I found that these benefit from the slightest boost up front, like an Eq pedal but no need for anything like a tubescreamer. Then you don’t need to run the gain into where it get “sizzly” which tends to...
I have been going down a bit of a YouTube rabbit hole around the Hell Razor, and I checked out a bunch of your clips.
IMO the best sounding Wizard was your 50 watt MTL. That thing just sounds angry.
Might consider one of these at some point
I’d check out a ground zero hellion. Rig-talk member RedPlated makes them and they are unreal. Speaking from experience. One of my favourite amps ever
It’s like a mix of a hot-modded Marshall and a Mesa Mark. To me it sounds like a modern metal amp, with a Marshall feel.
He has a sub forum on...
I try not to flip amps super quickly, even if I don’t really enjoy them. So I can let them collect dust and give them a second chance later on.
Except for another recto, would be chance number 5 or 6 at this point. They tend to create a real love hate relationship with me.
I really like the lower to more mid gain tones I’ve been hearing with your videos. You don’t hear those sounds usually outside of the vintage or modded Marshalls.
Does it do heavy well? I saw that Jim Root is using one but his tone has never been super stand out to me.
Either way seems like a...
in my experience my favourite for drop C-B we’re my Ground Zero Hellion, and my old Friedman Butterslax.
I don’t have them side by side but I think the Hellion would be the better of the two. The aura and the tight switch in the back let you fine tune the tightness.
My Hermansson is my other...
