Hey all,
I love this amp, it’s served me very well. I’ve had it for almost 3 years now and just have a couple other things I want to try.
Henric Hermansson modded/rebuilt this Rev G I sourced him in 2020. It has some unique features even for his mods.
Dual tightness controls per channel

following because if you design something around a JP6 I will be first on your list to grab it…
I’ve had a few different pickups in mine, and I’ve settled on the Lundgren Black Heaven. Tight, clear, a bit brighter, but not super trebly
After all the stuff with the VII I was tempted and picked up a Mark IVb for cheap (very cheap) a few weeks back, right away didn’t feel it needed a boost but tried it anyways. Great amp.
Fortin TS9 - way too much mid range, overkill
SD-1 - same,
Dirty tree - worse
Focus - compression city

Soft might be the wrong word with it, it’s almost the way it extends out.
What are your ballpark settings? I’ll give them a try when I get a chance. Mine doesn’t have the toggle on it but when I feel I need something different I use an Eq out front to slightly shape it.
Hey brother, sorry for the delay. Been on vacation ???.
The biggest similarities between the two is in the feel. The recto/Marshall both have that same feel in the drag, that very immediate go/stop thing that his amps do. Sound wise;
Mesa
more growl, fuller mids
less clank
more high-end...
100%,
My Rev G had way more fizz than before Hermansson did the mod on it. Also felt way stiffer. I might have to look at one of these JT mods to compliment it
That one was made by Fortin (allegedly).
But most of them were made by metro. I had one, it was fun at the time, needed a boost but got pretty metal with one. Kinda thin with 6 stringers though. Your Hermansson is way better.
I enjoyed mine for the 2 years I had it. Heavy, and thick, nice harmonic distortion. Ultimately I just wanted something tighter and it didn’t take boosts well if you wanted it to tighten up. Was already pretty compressed. Would’ve been a keeper 100% if it did.
