I have the amp and the tubes, just havent got around to this yet.
The mark V has an extra gain stage compared to the other marks, and it creates a buzzy trebly tone if the channel volumes are too high. Lowering the gain on the fx return stage means that stage doesnt clip and create the thing, so...
The rev c preamp is cloned apart from the slope resistor and gain pot values. The power amp in the rec is the Mark III design and in the SLO is regular marshall fender type. Makes sense as the rev A and B prototypes were built into mark series chassis. Pretty obvious Mesa slapped the SLO preamp...
Dont forget to try the 'humanise' features to manipulate the midi, you can use it to mix up the note velocities (and timing if you like) to help elicit some dynamics
There is a good power amp VST called TP1-A. It sounds much better than the two notes one to me. But using it vs the preamp direct didnt wasnt really make or break, adding the power amp really mimics what you might do with eq and compression, so simply up to you whether that's what works for the...
That's exactly what that cap does - high frequency negative feedback for that tube to stabilise it's gain.
Mesa tweaked the circuit almost constantly so not surprising that it's not in a schematic. It could have been related to the tubes they were using at the time, and that end tube being...
It might be a bad mic setup but the facts are it has two 12ax7's in it. One for a phase inverter leaves one tube with two gain stages for distortion.
At best it's as good as a valvestate or jcm900.
The SLO sounds like it has the gain right down around 2-3 so the bright cap is doing lots of work. Possibly boosted or high output pickups and greenbacks
Clear waterslide decal paper and a good laser printer is all you need to make your own. Will need a good layer of clearcoat on top for protection though
This is correct, the presence control in a mark series controls the negative feedback level.
If i were to guess what the module is doing, it might be a high frequency roll off adjustment, same as the rectos.
