7189's are a great choice, as are 6P14P's. These power tubes are spec'd for 400v operation as opposed to 300v with standard EL84's. That alone will extend your clean headroom a little bit when dimed.
Most of my forum time during the day is spent on a different forum, and he posts there quite a bit. I, too, commented once in one of his clip threads on how his clips all sound the same. Instant butthurt. Quickly cried to a mod and sent me a few choice words privately. Mod sided with me since...
Andy's upstairs shop back then was cool and funky. I was serious into blues at the time, doing slow bends and exaggerated vibrato. He dug my playing and would let me play every amp in there. So much fun. I even got to play thru Keef's stuff since Andy was amp-teching for the Stones back then. I...
Brian (BFG Amplification) was very close to coming out with his own model before he pulled the plug on his shop. I've always thought that whatever he came up with, it would've taken off.
Andy (THD Electronics) used to have some fricking amazing Marshall mods back in the Ballard Firehouse days...
One of the dudes I shared the table with used it as a shirt hanger, LOL. If you look to left side of the pic, you'll see two Alembic basses that I thought were fricking incredible.
Good to see you, too, mang. I must've asked a couple dozen people today if they wanted to try (or even just hear) the SLO rig. Not one person took me up on it. No one wanted to hear the other amps, either. I'm still scratching my head on it. Whenever someone offers that to me at a show, I'm...
On the back of the 3+ should be two 1/4" switch jacks to activate ch.2 and ch.3. There should also be a 1/4" jack to lift the eq (bit of a gain boost). If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could easily mod a standard generic 2-button ftsw to access all 3 channels. One button would toggle...
It's interesting how the color of wood changes with a clear finish. The Warmoths below L>R are walnut (clear nitro lacquer), mahogany (clear satin lacquer), southern ash (clear urethane), northern ash (clear oil).
I'll bump this since the show is coming up this Sunday. I'm sharing a booth with some dudes. I'll have a Soldano stack up against the wall, and then a few heads on the table (Demeter TGA-3, Mesa Maverick, Bogner Brixton). Offer still stands...ask to try any of my amps and I'll throw an R7 at you...
Made in Seattle full stack. Standard SLO head with a pair of X12000-loaded straight cabs. The head is really clean. The cabs have a few small dings here and there, and I think the camera added a few photo artifacts in this pic. Footswitch and blank warranty card included. I am the second owner...
