Yes, he told me this & said if I could get him specs for an SL-67, he'd do it.
He thinks the SL-67 is a slightly modded Marshall '67 Plexi, but he didn't know what the mods & tweaks were.
I e-mailed ceriatone told them I was looking to buy a Suhr Sl-67 & sent him the link & asked if they made a similar amp.
I was e-mailed back & told their '67 Plexi 50 was their clone.
I think it means 1967 specs.
These amps look to be exact hand wired replicas of a vintage pelxi plus a master volume for waaaaaay less money than a Friedman or Suhr.
However, I don't want to cheap put & lose out on tone & I've never played a Ceriatone.
Does anyone own/played a Ceriatone '67 Plexi 50?
I've been looking at a Suhr SL-67 & the Friedman Small Box & apparently the Ceriatone '67 Plexi 50 is very similar to these amps at 1/3 the cost.
I would order it without a transformer & upgrade to something better like a Mercury Magnetics.
I like the fact that the Friedman has an FX loop, but I also really like the variac switch on the Suhr.
Also, imo, all plexi type amps have to be cranked to get THE plexi tone, which usually means using an attenuater, some of which have an FX loop.
I'd love to try them side by side through the...
I'm looking to get a 50watt Plexi head & am torn between these two. However, I'm just going by clips & have never played either side by side.
Does anyone have 1st hand experience with these 2 amps?
Any other 50 watt plexi's anyone wants to throw in is welcome.
I just bought an EVH striped series guitar & want to replace the EVH decal with a Charvel decal.
Does anyone know where I can find these decals in the USA?
I'm not sure what Eddie's facination is with Basswood now a days, as everything he plays is Basswood, but I guess that's where his head/ears are at now a days.
His current guitar & PU set up is so far away from the vintage VH days.
They're all basswood.
It's strange that Eddie is a basswood freak now a days, since his early guitars were Ash or Alder.
I'd much rather have an alder body.
I have 2 basswood guitars & they sound kinda lifeless to me.
Thanks guys.
It's settled, I'm getting one ASAP.
Now I have to decide between the Yellow & Red striped ones.
I think the red may win out since it's THE iconic VH design......but the Yellow is from my fave VH album.
