Bummer it didn't work out for you. I feel mine sounds good quiet but again maybe we have different ideas of quiet.
Have you had much experience with other lower wattage modded Marshall kind of stuff? I tried a JJ JR and liked that a lot. I guess I wonder how they vary at low volume.
I love playing drums at open mics (if they will ever come back) I would play mostly guitar (obviously) but I love hopping on the throne and choking through a few grooves with the guys. I am confident that it was the beer, but fun nonetheless.
What speakers were you using? And did you use the loop master at all? I agree with the bright and the fact that they do best loud but my Supersport does low volume well, which has me wondering how you used it.
I have only really played two of them, and that was a few years back oddly enough at GC or Sam Ash and they were next to each other. Can't remember which ones but both were some form of hotrodded Marshall like a dozen of them are. They sounded good and I enjoyed playing them, didn't take one...
Splawns will clean up your playing quick and sound good getting you there LOL. I remember that happening when I got my first Splawn.
I definitely prefer the Splawn to the Friedman personally but both are great. Splawn is raw, Friedman is polished. The right spot in the middle is certainly not...
Splawn and Friedman are totally different camps 100%.Splawns are stiff and unforgiving and raw, which is one thing that I really like personally. Not for everyone. Friedmans are definitely polished and that's not really me. Whatever works for you works for sure. I boost with a clean boost or OD...
I should say that time has passed since my last post in the thread, but I now have a QR, PM, and a Nitro as well as the SS.
I really dig my Splawns tbh. I don't think that for a grand used you can get a better built amp. Great Iron, great quality components and very well built. Durable and...
I like my good Ole cheap Gibson LP Studios. After I touch up the frets, I cut a proper nut, swap 500k Bornes pots, and good caps and pickups, I have not been happier. All from $500-700 and they all play great and sound killer.
I know that I will catch flack, but I am happy where I am at, and...
I start with a pickup I know (JB/59 is a good one) and make changes based on what I like about the pickup for the next pickup after that.
Having said that, I do not swap pickups in a guitar that I do not swap in new pots, new switch, and new jack in ever. Bornes in Gibson, CTS everywhere else...
I completely agree.
I have two and if you look $70 can land you one. Also they are a Swiss army knife and work well with just about anything I have thrown them out front of.
What is the deal with the hostile defences? If you like it use it. Period.
I have my tube amps and like and use them. I have a mic if I want to mic them up. I have software and the Suhr RLIR if I need to watch the volume and record. And I like that. It works for me.
There is nothing wrong...
We all seem to dig our heads and big ass cabs, let's showcase some of our combo amps in here and not leave them in the backline.
I recently snagged a PRS Archon 25w 1x12 and swapped the speaker to a Scumback M65 and she breathes fire, the speaker woke up the monster and made it much more...
I buy a ton of shit off Reverb
mostly pedals, speakers, and small things, but as a buyer it's great. I buy things that are a good price. Most of the time it's far cheaper than local, and I can find a lot of stuff that isn't local.
If I sell 100% of the time it goes straight on CL and offer up...
Timmy's are a great go to for just about everything. I have three of them and damn it's hard to beat for an all around kind of thing.
The Xotic BB Pre is something that I have been using more and more. It can stay more neutral or pronounced and is overall a pretty friendly pedal with...
