This is the first tube amp I've owned that didn't have a fixed bias, so its going to be a whole new world of tubes to learn about! The tube roll itch hasn't hit yet, but I am really only familiar with tube rolling on Mesas...
There's a video floating around where Tremonti says he is working on a signature archon with PRS that will be a lunchbox style amp. That's kind of what I was holding out for before I bought the Archon 100. Also straight from the customer support line at PRS. All Archon 100s manufactured after...
Christmas took a little while to get here for me but it finally arrived! I had been wanting a 2x12 vert cabinet for a while as I always felt the 1x12 while decent, was too low to the ground so I picked up the cab first and the difference was incredible! It was so good in fact, that I stopped...
Saw one of these on facebook, of course hilarity ensued.
Unrelated note: Marshal Law's signature is literally doubling the length of this forum thread
I have always gone from lowest to highest gain. My current signal chain goes.... Guitar --> PolyTune 2 --> OD808 (volume maxed, gain min) --> Fulltone OCD --> Flux Drive --> Amp Input.
Am I nuts that the only reason I haven't bought the Archon 100 yet is that somewhere in my mind I think that 100w may be too much wattage? I know I can drop it to 50w, but if I bought an archon 50 I could drop it to 25w....*sigh* That price though...
Spoke with a new Sweetwater rep and got a new 2x12 vertical Mesa Boogie cab incoming from Sweetwater for 649! They price matched my local dealer without batting an eye!
Maybe I'll just be picking up an Archon 100 local instead! Just snapped this at my local dealer. Gonna take my pedal board there tomorrow to see how the loop works out on these guys, as one of the known Archon issues (at least with the early ones) is a noisy loop.
The last low wattage amp I got to use at home ended up being too dang loins thanks to no master volume (rectoverb 25). So I still use my roadster. I'd be curious to see what PRS comes up with for the Tremonti Archon!
