I've got the exact $$$ amount in my money market account, ready to pull the trigger on the Helios.
So I'm patiently waiting, earning interest in the meantime.
Kinda getting antsy to try it, and at the same time, kinda already looking around at other amps too...
Well that ain't good news.
I have one on pre-order, and I've been waiting on a 50W Helios since April. Latest update I got from Sweetwater was September 7th.
I don't think I'm gonna see this thing until 2015 at this point. I've got the $2500 burning a hole in my pocket.
Rich, there's a resistor attachd to the bias trim pot that can adjust it's operating range. Email bogner for more info.
I know that I had to snip a resistor, going from KT88s to EL34s, and that opened up the range. There's probably more you can do with other value resistors.
Something's...
Recently, I picked up a Bogner Barcelona as a grab-n-go, clean platform amp for smaller gigs (or big gigs with small stages). Phenomenal amp. Takes pedals like a champ, and despite it's conservative 40W rating, it's a LOUD bold clean, headroom for days. Loaded with either 6Ca7s or EL34s, it...
One of these days I *WILL* buy a Bogner Wheat/Black Slant 412... and make my wife furious.
Right now I have a ton of Bogner cabs:
1 Oversize 212 w/Creamback M65s
1 Shiva Size 212 w/ Creamback M65s
1 Oversize 212 w/ Celestion V-Types
1 Shiva Size 212 w/Alnico golds
1 Cube w/V30
Timmy into the Shiva Drive channel is great. +1 on that.
You can adjust it right, and it almost *sounds* like it's not there, but just gets easier and more liquid to play.
Timmy also makes a great light-crunch on top of the clean channel.
I've heard that if the LED is blown on the footswitch button, it won't function.
Could be a bad LED... or a bad switch.
Do you have any other LEDs lying around?
I think a lot of people are afraid to do spray finishes, but honestly.... they're way, way easy. Every time I've tried to do a rubbed-stain finish, it looks awful.
Depends on the venue...
If the stage is big enough, I bring my Bogner OS212 cab. Sounds massive.
But, in the cover band circuit around here, even some really popular clubs have narrow stages. My band uses IEMs, and the IEM/Wireless Vocal Mic/mixer rack stays on my side of the stage, so space...

I'm no tube expert, but I've done quite a bit of swapping. In my research, I've read that although the pin layout is the same and a 12AT7 can *function* in the same place as a 12AX7, it's not really a "tone" tube. It's more of a utility tube, for reverb circuits.
If you want to...
