You should do a model of the SLO with some of the things you're talking and asking about tweaked to your liking and call it the Fractal Lead Overdrive. The FLO.
A lot of the elements that I started out with remain but have become much more refined. I still play very high gain but the gain I look for now is much less saturated or is the combo of blending a cleaner sound with a heavily distorted sound to get the right amount of articulation and note...
Favorite and benchmark tones for me in metal would be...
Metallica-Mercyful Fate Medley
Metallica-Leper Messiah
Metallica-For Whom The Bell Tolls
John Sykes-Bad Boys
John Sykes-Cold Sweat
Jon Schaffer-Something Wicked This Way Comes (album)
Kamelot-The Black Halo (album)
Kamelot-Ghost Opera...
"AHHHHH!!!!!" That was great.
Also, your playing, and tone were great too. And I absolutely love your note selection and phrasing. Super tasty.
One caveat I'll pass on about Fender...
Many of their guitars are good. Solid 7's in my book on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best. That being said, play as many of them as you possibly can. Most of the ones I've played have been in the 5-7 (nice to good) range but you can find one that is...
My friend, if I ever get to meet you in real life I have to shake your hand and say "Thank you." for introducing me to that product! I've been meaning to carve something like that and now I don't have to. Awesome!
If I may piggyback a question here for the Nova System owners...
The Nova Drive has a feature that allows you run the OD and Distortion in to each other or in parallel. Does the Nova System have that too?
That was my exact thought that got me going on the idea.
I actually had a brain fart earlier and tried something like I want to do with my Axe FX and got some neat results. I'm going to try and get a few pedals from some friends together and see what I can do in the non-virtual world.
Have any of you experimented with taking 2, 3 or more overdrive pedals and putting them together in series? I have a power amp that's basically sitting idle that I want to screw around with. I imagine it'll be noisy but I don't think I'd be playing out with the set up. More like an experiment. I...
I dig the necks on them and tonally, they've been pretty good across the board in my encounters with them. Not a bad sounding one in the six or so I've played. Though, no real standouts either.
I had my eye on tht auction too.
Running an EQ before the amp is THE best damn thing in the world for tone. I have no idea why more players don't do it. It's like having all the worlds pickups at your finger tips available with the turn of a knob.
I'm a bit stuck on the neck wood I'd like to go with on the Suhr I'm planning to order.
First off, I'm planning on picking up a Modern 7 once they become available to order. Ed mentioned that they'll have a longer scale and I've seen John mention this on another forum too. Right now, I'm...
This was one of the best CDs I bought last year. Made me buy their others ones. I love all of them but I think the Black Halo has the most to offer. Though, Ghost Opera and Karma kick serious ass too. Epica, their first album is a little more raw but in my opinion, great too.
Have you checked...
Would some of you gents kindly list some Stratovarius tunes to check out? I've heard some of their songs without catching the names and I liked em'. I'm a big Sonata Arctica and Kamelot fan and have been told I need to check out Stratovarius.
