It's custom made for Suhr to the exact recipe that Fender used in the early 60's. The magnets used for pickups to chip when they were cut, so Leo had to pay people to grind the magnets. It's why Strat pickups and Tele neck pickups have covers. They weren't pretty. To combat this, they changed...
It's kind of interesting. Since I've replaced the SSH+ with the Aldrich in a few guitars, I've been able to experience them both in the same instrument several times. Even though the Aldrich has a higher DC resistance, since it doesn't have the same upper midrange push of the SSH+, I perceive...
John has said he won't do a production run of Auras both to not diminish the collectability for the owners of the original run of 100, and he doesn't want to deal with Gibson's BS. It's likely tweaked shape-wise just enough to avoid a lawsuit and to make it less than 8k like the Auras. I'm...
I infinitely prefer the Aldrich. The SSH+ has a honkier upper midrange that I found unpleasant and chirpy when doing high gain stuff. I've yanked the stock SSH+ out of a few of my Suhr Moderns and replaced them with the Aldrich and each time it corrected what I didn't like about the SSH+.

That explorer is kind of an interesting one. It's an EXP-200, but the first 300 or so of them were made in Japan before production moved to South Korea. The later South Korean ones had 'EXP-200' on the 12th fret inlay, where this one has two dots. I had it refretted when I got it and it's a ripper.
I like Pete a lot. I really dig his playing, he gets great tones and it's a really laid back approach the videos. He's first and foremost a gear nerd and tone chaser. He's not reviewing, he's demoing and has been pretty up front about how he never puts out a video if he doesn't like the product...
My last band used a few tunings, so I'd often bring 5. A main for E and drop-D, its backup, a main for Eb and drop C#, its backup and then the 5th one for an open tuning that was only used on one song.
They're killer amps. I used to do pedal demos for a retailer and that was the clean platform that I used. The dirty channel also sounds excellent. I sometimes kick myself for selling it. Enjoy that thing!
If you've never owned or played an earlier Mark series amp, the V is cool. If you have, you'll likely consider it a jack of all trades and a master of none. I couldn't sell mine fast enough, but to each their own.
