Amp bias numbers and the Tube current numbers?

So can you have B+ 420 V DC in the amp, and still get 30ma for a bias? I was under the understanding that if the B+ voltage went up, the Ma would go up with it. It doesn't? Maybe I'll post this in the Voodoo section and have Trace answer it. Its on one of my Voodoo V-plex amps and on the back...

Amp bias numbers and the Tube current numbers?

I was hoping someone could explain this to me. I've always used Groove Tubes so I never had to deal with this, but I'd like to try different tubes. If my amp has been biased at 30MA for the tubes that are in it EL34s , does this number need to match the Ma number that we find on the tubes. If...

My Voodoo V-Plex ended up being a V-Rock.........

Guys, The story gets better. I found a 2006 Voodoo 50 watt V-Plex master volume on ebay in mint condition for little money, and I bought it. Now I've got both. I'm using the V-Rock for my leads, and the V-Plex for my rhythm. Add in my 1993 Marshall 100w 1959 SLP and I'm all set... Couldn't be...

    Rivera Rock Crusher

Hey Guys, I'm using one of the Rivera Rock Crushers with my 1993 Marshall 100W 1959 Super Lead. It works great, and doesn't seem to change your tone like other Attenuators seem to do.

off-brand LP-style guitars with good build quailty?

Agile! I wouldn't have believed it without actually seeing and playing one. We did a side by side with my 2003 Gibson Les Paul. Agile was about 1/2 lb heavier, and the pickups weren't quite as hot, but once I set up the guitar, it played just like my Les Paul, and tone was real close. I paid...

    Voodoo V-Rock

Hey Nitro, Yes it will..... and No, you don't need the Brutal mod to do it. I'm the one that bought the V-plex 50 watt from GC, but it ended up having way too much gain for a Plexi. I called Trace and found out it was modded to a V-rock. So to answer your question. My V-rock has more then...

    Rectifiers vs Marks

Hi Guys, My rig is full of boogies, and I like old Marshall Plexi tones with little gain. With that said, I run a Boogie Stiletto and use the Triple Rec as a giant distortion box. My Stiletto is run dry, with hardly any gain. Then I add the Triple Rec on top if needed. I dont scoop the mids...

So I'm watching Joe Bonamassa @ the Beacon Theater

I saw his show in NH in 2009 at the Lebanon Opera House . It was the last show before he was heading over seas to record the Royal Albert Hall show.... The guy played his butt off.

Post ONE thing about you that no one here would have known..

Im OCD too. It can be a real pain...... Can't have just one hockey stick, it has to be 2 or 4 (not 3). Same with guitars....... 2 Les Pauls, or 4, not 3 or 5......DVDs grouped by type......Once I start something (changing pickups, computer/software issue....) I have to finish it or I can't...

    Kirk Hammett doesn't suck. Period.

I was never a fan of Metallica but I'd never say the guy sucks. There are guitar players I like, and ones I don't. Its all personal taste. all my friends loved them in the 80s.....I tried, and couldn't stand the band. Then they came out with the LP with all the hits like sandman........ I...

My Voodoo V-Plex ended up being a V-Rock.........

Hi Trace, actually no........ I'm really digging the amp even though its not what I was after. I've been using it with my band "The Royal Pains", http://www.theroyalpains.com along with my Mesa boogies. I'm gonna hit you up at some point on making me a 100 watt V-Plex to go with my 50 watt...

Mesa Roadster Chan 3 no sound....Voodoo Platinum Modded

Hey Tyson, I forgot I had this memo from Mesa about volume drops/cutouts. I'm not saying this is what it is, but Mesa put out a memo about it. "Mesa Memo SOUND “DROP-OUTS” / INTERMITTENT SIGNAL One Possible Cause Most (but not all) Mesa/Boogie amplifiers have one or two “cathode follower”...

    Budgeting for a touring rig

Depends on what you like for tone as far as what brand of amp, but for amps, cabs and cases try to go used. My rig is bullet proof and because I shopped around, it didnt' break the bank. The one piece of gear I highly suggest is a Furman AR-1215 Voltage Regulator. I gives you a constant 120 V...

    BC Rich fans inside

Hi guys, I was a huge BC Rich fan in the early 80s...... Had one of the first 10 string Rich Biches and two early Mockingbirds back then. Like a bonehead, I traded them in the late 80s. I just recently found this one for sale for $1200 at a guitar center in Nashville and grabbed it. Best...

    Should I Get A Used Marshall 1960B 4x12 Cab?

:2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: This is probably why you can't hear yourself........ Guitar lives in the mid range. Take out too much mids, and the cymbals will eat you alive. Try adding more mids and see if that helps.

    Favorite axe in your collection

Actually, the neck feels like a really nice Les Paul neck. Something in between a 50s and 60s neck, but a little wider. I had two 78 Mockingbirds back in the 80s, plus a Rich Bich. Wish I never got rid of them. For all the guitars I have (16- from Les Pauls to Strats to Jacksons) if I could...
