I just been playing one on my Kemper... WICKED good tone if I do say so myself.
:)
[edit]
seems like a darker version of the AC30 tone with the same kind of shimmer in the highs.. I like it!
So basically this: a 220 Variac running at 120V would produce much lower voltage.. less than a 120V Variac running at 120V. So he ran his amp at 90V but cranked full bore.. so the variac allowed him to do gigs without blowing his amp up every few weeks. Sounds perfect to me. Plexis had...
Turn the clean sense down is how you fix that one. There is no way a pickup has more output than my TC Electronic booster/line driver, AND it does not clip my input.. :)
The exact issue is that the Kemper takes the sum of the amp, cab, mic, and micpre. It is hard to extrapolate just the amp's preamp from that signal chain however CK said he was trying to figure out a good solution. So it isnt a matter of it sounding good or bad, its a matter of the profile...
Hey thanks. I used a built in profile which was a Marshall 77 JMP. Kemper did that profile. It is one of my favorites and also the cab profile is great to mix n match with other profiles. I do actually own a 78 Marshall JMP modded by voodoo amps AND I was/am going to profile it.. however...
Here is a clip I did with a full song mix. It was using my Jackson RR1 with a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge. Used the Kemper JMP profile straight up and used my TC Electronic Booster/Line driver into the front of the Kemper.
Here is a high gain clip I did:
Full song mix with guitar...
answering a few q's:
Kemper is far better for amp models, AXE FX is better for effects, for practicing and home recording Kemper wins easily for ease of use. For live use depends on what you like, AxeFX for using tube power amps/cabs. Kemper for direct into PA or full freq flat speakers...
Well 6550s have much more clean headroom than EL34s. Sounds exactly what you would expect at low volume levels, stiff. Crank it and its another matter entirely. 6550s sound sweet breaking up so do your ear drums   .
Yeah definitely crank the Cab volume and see the difference. Its pretty amazing in my opinion. It was that last 'thing' I needed to get mojo from my setup.
There are a few tips for this thing that I didn't first realize and are not totally obvious. First and foremost, the input sensitivity. There is a gain/trim control (Input) for your guitar/OD pedal. This is key for proper response for the profiles. My guitar has a high output humbucker (SD...
It really really does. At no point have I been like, well this amp sounds digital, NEXT... nope. Everything I am trying sounds dead on. Honestly I am a bit jaded about new gear technology but this is just something else. I feel this will revolutionize the entire industry. I am not kidding...
after using mine for a few hours I finally got the hang of it (had to update the firmware and jam a little), GODDDAAAAAMMMNNN...
jaw on floor, and is firmly there
The feature I like the most so far... turning the amp models volumes way up. Sounds fierce.. extremely tubey and I could never do...
