Ever layered a Herbert with a Recto?

It all depends on how you mix the sounds, really. To my knowledge, the Mesa is a bit boomier and emphasizes some of the same frequencies as the Diezel. I have recorded a VH4 with various Marshalls and always liked the results, but I emphasized the Mid/Highs on the Marshall and let the Diezel do...

    Vh4 Channel 4 Question

Matt Bellamy of Muse likes Channel 4 over Channel 3... I find that Channel 3 is tighter, and you can easily saturate it by turning the gain up a little bit. For my guitar, a low output humbucking PRS, 5 gain is "tight", and 7-8 is starting with the heavy saturation, but still fairly tight. I...

    Diezel + Marshall CRUNCH

Hello fellow Diezelers! Before we get going, I must admit, I am a long time Marshall user. Love the tone and style. I played them for years until I picked up my Diezel, and now I feel I have the ultimate combo of amps  Anyway, my band just finished a new song. I recorded the rhythm...

    Sabbath Song with Diezel

Yep, 5 Mids means about half way up. The mic placement can really change the tone you are getting on the board as well. The tracks with less gain are "tighter". They are very percussive and brutal. The other two tracks with more gain have some of that signature saturated "high gain" sound...

    Sabbath Song with Diezel

I used Channel 3 with 7 treble, 5 mid, 4 bass. 4 Presence, 4 Deep There are 4 rhythm tracks. On two of them, I used 4 gain, and on the other 2, I used 7 gain.

    Sabbath Song with Diezel

ySqhnw3076Y My band submitted a cover of Black Sabbath's "Into the Void" for an upcoming Ozzy Tribute CD. All guitar parts were done with a Diezel VH4 head, Marshall 1960A cab, and PRS McCartey guitar. Really loved the heavy crunch the Diezel gave on this track. :) Go go Diezel!

Best/Favorite ways to Mic/Record your Diezel?

Just recorded a cover of Sabbath's "Into the Void" with the VH4. Think I might overdub a few rhythm tracks with a Marshall JVM to give it a bit brighter high end. I'll have a clip soon!

Best/Favorite ways to Mic/Record your Diezel?

The e906 is always in my guitar case for recording/gigs, I love that bad boy. I like the sound of it a bit better than the SM57, and it has a great shape for live gigs, has worked well for me in the past for recording.

Best/Favorite ways to Mic/Record your Diezel?

Thanks for all the tips, and Dan, I might take you up on that! Let's see how the recording session goes next week. I will actually be recording with a Marshall 1960A cab. I love the combo of the VH4 and the Marshall cab. Has that heavy duty Diezel sound, but some of that Marshall sparkle.

Best/Favorite ways to Mic/Record your Diezel?

Hey all, I am going to be recording in a couple weeks. I have always done the close mic'd approach. I am using my Diezel VH4 for a hard rock tone, occasionally going into heavy metal territory. I figured I would ask this forum how they like to record their Diezels. Cheers! -Josh

Millions and million in USA hear and see Diezel!

Good tone, but a pretty bad rendition of the national anthem...

Second trip to the studio w/ VH4 and your guys' advice...

 Hey everyone, Thanks for the tips in the last threat I posted. So my band cut a new song this week, this time with the full band (the last time was a studio demo with just drums/guitar/bass) I would call it an alternative hard rock song with rapped vocals...

Just cut a track in the studio w/ VH4...thoughts? (ROCK)

I used two different mics, one on each speaker. Both were close-mic'd, perhaps I should try some distance mic-ing? in the past, I've always found it to wash away the guitar a bit, which I didn't like...

Just cut a track in the studio w/ VH4...thoughts? (ROCK)

For those of you who have recorded the VH4 before... Do you typically layer the VH4 over itself, or track with other amps as well? I know Adam Jones does the Vh4/Marshall thing, what is everyone's experience with mixing amps? Cheers, -Josh

    Herbert does Pop Punk!

That's a pretty cool song! Enjoyed the tones and the tune!

Just cut a track in the studio w/ VH4...thoughts? (ROCK)

Thanks man! The music I write and love to play sits in a unique position - I need a heavy thick sound, but not an overly gainy metal sound. My PRS has fairly low output pick ups, and Channel 3 with 5 gain gives me a great rock tone. It definitely gets pretty metal around 7 and 8 gain though...
