These are nice guitars...I had the 752(7 string version) for a few years before I sold it cuz I just didn't play 7 ever...But the action is fast and fun.
Haven't boughten anything in a couple years...Last being the Eventide Micro pitch. Just seeing what the consensus is on best newer products to check out?
Once I bought an EVH combo many years ago, it's just been the amp for me. Love the Power Scaling feature beyond words. Gets beyond loud if you want as well. All 3 channels sound excellent and the loop is great. Plus the preamp out you can record silent and get excellent tones with an IR...
Speeddemon has good insight. The EVH stuff is very responsive to glass changes. Some amps preamp tubes do like 3-5% change in tone....the EVH stuff is pretty significant. Like 10-20% I'd gather. I need to do this, cuz I have some Jan Phillips 12ax7wa blue labels that need to go into my 5150...
Come to think of it, check and make sure the bias is up a bit as well...I need to check it on mine. Got another one after years with the first one i owned...this one is a bit more cold/compressed sounding. Problem is I have the combo, and I have to pull the damn chassis to do everything on it.
Yeah...key is the presence knob. I run mine around 10:00 and use greenbacks....If you use celestion heritage speakers even better for more warmth if ya need...or scumbacks. The presence knob is very good. minimal turning gets big differences.

Seems to me this is a mutual soft departure. You don't have all these statements from just an extended absence.
So That's harder than the Splawn? That's nuts....I had 4 splawns(as ya know probably), and you had to be pretty precise in your chops. My EVH I have now is less effort, that's for sure. The tones I'm hearing sound good...but if it's a struggle, I can see why you'd might return it.
