Man, these were all the rage when they first came out so I got em and boy did I fucking hate them. I remember them sounding fat, bloated, mega high output. Nice to see ppl agree with my assessment these days.
OP, might want to look into Fishman Fluence as well.
RGD2127Z, previous owner rattle canned it so I stripped the finish and used a propane torch to do Shou Sugi Ban. 85 in the bridge equalized it’s bright ass tone.
VHT 2/90/2.
Balls, yes, haha.
I play a few Synergy modules regularly, they’re fun when I want more dynamics & raw tone but nothin cuts through the live mix like the Axe.
I had the FM3 and still have the Standard.
I’ve never been able to create a modeler into FRFR tone that I liked in the room. Could be user error but I’ve tried for hours & hours.
My main rig is Axe into tube power amp and real 4x12. The Axe is virtually noise free, all analog preamps...
Lots of front vs rear loaded discussion in this thread https://www.rig-talk.com/forum/threads/are-there-any-differences-feel-tonewise-between-front-loaded-4x12s-and-rear-loaded-4x12s.289506/
Fatbottom 4x12 was not resonant enough for me which comes across as lacking oomph in the lows/low mids. Very directional. Tight & clear. The P50e’s could get the job done but are far from my fav speakers. All front loaded cabs have an in your face sound compared to rear loader which are more...
Multiple drum mics and recording 2 channels from the mixer, that’s too much work considering you can’t adjust the individual levels afterwards. I’d rather just use 1 condenser mic, either place it where you get the whole band or get just the drums and add in guitars later. If you want to just...
So the 808 Screamer came in the mail today from @griff10672, TL;DR, fuck yeah.
So my dumb ass spent the first minute thinking, wtf, this thing sounds weird as hell, then I realized the knob layout is the reverse of OD808/TS9. The Screamer 808 is exactly what I was looking for, it's a TS style...
Hmm. I guess a V30 might sound tighter 'cause it has less lows but it also breaks up earlier than a Redback so I've always thought of Redbacks as tighter. Smaller magnet speakers usually sound looser to me, same with lower wattage. I've never thought of Redbacks a being on the loose side, but...
Get ahold of MarshallJMP and put the MDRT transformer in it, big improvement, I A/B'd an MDRT MP1 and one with the stock trasformer, the MDRT sounded 3D while stock sounded 2D, I don't know how else to describe it. https://www.marshalljmpmodshop.net/miscellaneous_parts_and_replacement_tubes.htm...
