I completely disagree about Mindcrime! I love the guitar tones on that. There are plenty of reasons not to like CC, but I don't think his tone is one of them. I loved Paul's tone in Racer X, but never liked it in Mr. Big. GnR tones were always wonderful. I didn't care for Maiden's guitar tones...
They make the Ratios in standard, open back and locking.
I'm very fond of Hipshot products. I have one of their tremolos
and it's wonderful. I don't understand the benefit of open tuners though.
Wouldn't that just allow them to get dirty and hard to turn?
I haven't made up my mind yet, but the...
Anybody try these Graphtech Ratio Tuners?
http://www.graphtech.com/products/brands/ratio
I'm looking to upgrade the tuners on one of my guitars
and these look pretty cool.
Sammy's not going back without Mike. Not going to happen.
I would love to see Dave tour with the original DLR band.
Eat 'em and smile was an AMAZING tour! Skyscraper was a cool CD,
but the tour without Billy was lacking.
0U812 was by far the weakest of the Van Hagar CDs, but still had its...
How's the built-in reverb?
I've wanted to try one ever since I read his book Relentless!
Does it clean up at all?
You mentioned that it wasn't good for low volumes,
so those built-in power scaling features don't do a very good job?
How about the gate? Any good?
Let me ask this to confuse matters; I don't have any tone knobs on my guitar. Only a volume knob. I've found some bridge humbuckers to be too bright. I changed to a 250K pot and that sounds pretty good to me. I'm more concerned about my tone with the volume on full, than when I lower the volume...
Here's a really quick run through with the Tumnus.
Each clip is dry first and then boosted with the Tumnus.
57 on V30. Settings on the pedal remain constant.
Gain 10 O'Clock
Level 9 O'Clock
Treble 1 O'Clock
4 channels clean to high gain.
A little high gain neck pickup lead at the end...
Wampler Tumnus is simply AMAZING!

I can't believe how good this thing sounds on EVERYTHING!
Boosting a clean channel, boosting a gain channel,.....
It adds some low mids that really thicken things up,
but the overdrive is really clear and mellow.
For me...
Peavey Rockmaster preamp!

That's not my ad and I'm not familiar with the mod, but these are great 3 channel, tube preamps!
Yes, it must be the amp. It couldn't possibly be his wireless unit or another sound system issue.
I couldn't tell if it was a Kemper or not, but it ABSOLUTELY sounded like stainless steel frets.
Plus I don't think he's using a 25k pot with that EMG!
Give me a break! Who cares about this shit!
He...
Viv and Craig are both great players.
While Viv was more of an influence on my playing,
I actually think Craig is a better player.
I didn't used to, but I've really gotten in to
the later DIO cds in the last few years.
Master of the moon and Magica are actually quite good!
Dream Evil is great...
Clayton Ultem Small Teardrop Picks .94mm!
I'd previously been playing Clayton Acetal Small Teardrop Picks .80mm for over 20 years!
I tried these Ultem on a whim and they sound SO much better!
More edge and attack. The Acetal sound thuddy and dark in comparison!
My friend, at some point you have to do some reading.
