VH4 Channel 4 Compression Mod, Clips Inside, TIGHT!!!!

cool man, i was considering doing this mod on my VH4 also but either hooked to a switch where the stock cap value is present, then flicked it goes to the modded cap value. So it is reversable easily. That, or hook it up to a variable resistor and pick where I like the compression haha. Not...

Hey Peter, is this true about the Herbert?

the similarities may be.... tight high gain? oh yes, must be a copy. :scared:

    Diezel Schmidt review

Nice review! I agree on alot of points, however I find the gain control on ch2 of my Schmidt completely usable. I have my volume at half way and at every position on the gain knob, the gain is completely usable. That's just my experience with my guitars/pickups (Bareknuckle piledriver/brown...

Hey Peter, is this true about the Herbert?

Just my opinion, but it doesn't seem like Peter is the kind of guy to base new amps around existing ones from other brands. I've always had the impression just from the models Diezel have available at the moment, that he creates them from scratch.

    PETER DIEZEL IS THE MAN!!!

Wow, that is awesome! Out of curiosity, I'd love to hear any info on what was modded on your Schmidt. I live mine to death as is, but am always fascinated with how mods operate. You should record a clip or two of the mod!

Cleaning the face of the VH4

I too would like to know about this. I have a silverface vh4 and it came to me with a reasonable amount of finger printage and it's not been too easy to get off. I tried using a tiny amount of 'flitz' but on the small area i used it on, i didn't notice much improvement - which is weird because...

No concerns here! I wouldn't part with mine, ever.

Strange Feedback with my VH4 when playing loud.

Check that your preamp tube in position v3 hasn't become microphonic, it's responsible for ch4.

    Diezel Schmidt

Any chance of perhaps sharing the solutions peter may suggest to your problems? I've noticed my loop cables get quite hot and also noticed the aforementioned slight background noise on ch1 and super small tone change when the loop is engaged even with nothing plugged into the loop. Still...

    Diezel Schmidt

Little B, are you able to give any tonal descriptions of what the Schmidt was like with the 6V6's in it as opposed to what it sounds like with the EL34's? I absolutely love the amp as it is, I have no will to even experiment with different tubes but it's always handy and interesting to know...

    Diezel Schmidt

C-4, you always write the best and truest reviews of the Schmidt. I whole heartedly agree with what you've said. I love the amp so much, I'm surprised how much I love it actually. I almost wish my vh4 was more Schmidt-like haha. To theoriginal poster, I can't suggest the amp to you more...

VH4 owners...what type of tubes are you running?

I've been swapping alot of tubes in my VH4 lately to experiment, I currently have this - Ruby HG+'s in V1/V4, JJ ECC83S's in V2, V3 and some TAD 12AX7's for the rest. Looking into 12AT7's/5751's for the phase inverter or even some use in the early sockets. Should be interesting.
