I have talked so much shit about this amp for the last 10 years lol. I owned one for about 6 months in 2015 after selling my beloved Mark V25 for a 90 watt version, and just struggled with that amp the whole time. I am attributing it a lot to speakers. Pretty much none of the Marks I've had...
I did a bias mod on my old 5150 BL and ended up taking it out because I preferred the amp without it. Super easy to do and reverse. Took about 15 min each way. Make sure you check your voltages. These amps have a resistor that drains the caps, but it can take a few minutes, so just check it...
I like the Waza SD-1 a lot. I am not much of an OD fan in general, but of the handful I've tried, this one on the custom setting has been better. Less of a low cut than I typically hear with ODs. I'm using the 100S.
The V25 was my first Mark series, and I absolutely loved it, but I needed band level volumes, and it does not do band level volumes well. I sold it for a 90 watt, and regretted it.
All the V30 stuff has been really wild. I hated V30s for years. I got a Mesa cab in 2022, and it has sounded better than any other cab I've had. Couple months ago, I grabbed a 2004 Mesa cab with speakers from the "golden era" time period, and it sounds great. The feel and sound are pretty...

Damn, 5 is tough. Lots of guys that I respect their playing these days, and I maybe write riffs somewhat similarly, but I don't think I listened to them much in my formative years to consider them influences.
We were on the floor toward the back, right side near the stairs to get to the merch.
I love Cannibal Corpse, and see them a lot. They sounded like they usually do.
Drew is playing with 2 guitars.
I played mine on stage and never had issues cutting. Not sure I've seen anyone complain about this, but for sure the amp can be set so many ways, I could see it happening.
I thought the whole night was awesome. Cannibal Corpse was great! I thought it sounded brutal from the floor. Carcass had the best tone of the night, but lots of snooze riffs lol. Meshuggah was amazing, as always. Killer tones, light show was amazing. So tight and impressive every time. Great show!
I had one for about 9 months. My serial number was 50 lol. I bought it when they were released. Amazing amp. Ultimately went back to the 5150.
There are some things about it that kinda bug me. I wish I could switch between IIC+ and IV modes. I wish it had 2 EQs. And I wish it had the Shred...
The first one was a Fryette D60. I was so stoked to get that amp, and after the first note, I was like...nooooooo this is not what I want at all.
Revv, KSR, Omega, H&K, had similar experiences with all of these amps. The rounder low end is not something I enjoy.
I made IRs years ago, and don't use them anymore. They just don't compete with a mic, for the most part. I recently got the GGD Contenders IR thing, and it is by far the best, most mic'd sounding IRs I've used.
I had like 4 of these at one point. One of my favorite FX pedals. Recently switched my boards over to the Eventide Blackhole. I like being able to have different presets for different things, but one of my presets is dialed to be pretty similar to what I used the DM for.
