    Marshall sounds with Einstein

there's a good Marshall example in ch1 mode 2: http://www.krusekontrol.com/diezel_mods/einstein_mod seems like you have to crank the gain up to 10 or thereabouts and turn the deep knob down to 0 or so. sounded close to a JCM800 which is cool :)

Back at it again, what amp to buy?

I'm pretty happy with Diezel Einstein for metal/hard-rock/blues/cleans with series/parallel efx loop. damn loud at 100watts with EL34's, seems way louder than that... just wish it had an efx loop button on footswitch (only has channel and master selectors) and i could switch b/n the modes in...

Wacky tabbacky. whatever. the heavy parts in this song are the sickest i've ever heard. he knows theory. he runs VH4 in AXE FX with another amp simul. but i get your point. you can be a good song writer like cobain and not know much about jazz theory or counterpoint like Tosin Abasi...

The problem is that I haven't played thru the amp enough and haven't experimented (at all really) with the EQ controls, etc. So I'm going to give it some time....

    Jeff Beck rig rundown

I'm not sure if his is the made in UK or made in vietnam (like mine which is ok for metal, not much else afaict) but running in triode is strange. Even Mesa RK II got rid of the triode mode that was available in RK I.

    Herbert!

nice, sounded like van halen style and marshally. did you have the deep knob turned down for that clip?

    New song recorded with Herbert.

gave it a listen, nice radio friendly pop song, good mix. good job. interesting choice of amp for that tune, sounded good but i thought a marshall would be more appropriate.

    What would I need?

I've been running two amps in stereo for quite a while now using the TE-2 Tera Echo as the last pedal in the effect chain prior to the amps (preamps). No issues with losing "balls", etc. If you don't want to do that, buy an AXE FX II and run a patch with two amp blocks simul. Your rig sounds...

hey i just watched this video, missed your link previously. yeah you're right that's a very close to marshall sounding clip. interesting. is texas mode, the 2nd or 3rd position of the switch in ch 1?

Yes you can be uneducated, work hard and be lucky like bands like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1E3R_rJurM and likely have no clue about music theory. I think it's funny when you watch a metal guitarist in an interview and they have no clue what chords they're playing, it's sad. that...

btw, his tech said he runs it in half-power mode (triode) triode mode on most amps i've played is squishy/crappy sounding...

    Jeff Beck rig rundown

This is interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN-Wazsiaio he's using a Marshall DSL100H as one of his main amps. These sell for less than $1k on eBay. He uses rapco cables as well which are really cheap. Minimal effects. It's all in the hands...

Ok so it's similar to the fingering for a Emaj7 except you flat 2 of the notes. Big difference in sound, this chord is in your face and funky (to me). But the question becomes: is the root E or Eb? What if the root is E, then what does your app tell you?

btw, can somebody please tell me what this chord is? I looked it up in my jazz chord substitution book and couldn't find it. 5th string: 7th fret 4th string: 8th fret 3rd string: 8th fret 2nd string: 8th fret So you have the root (E), #11 (A#), maj7 (D#), minor 3rd (G) ***EDITED: sorry...

To be fair, I played the Rivera yesterday and noticed that the Diezel is less muddy with distorted jazz chords but I usually have the gain maxed out with OD in front on the Rivera. Rivera's tubes are at least 3 years old so it's not a fair comparison I guess. Sounds weaker with less...

thx for the feedback. now back to square one... marshalls lack the low-end/depth that rivera and diezel offer. i like to mix two amps and/or have a parallel efx loop. don't want to lug around so much gear and be insanely loud either... axe fx allows 2 simul amps, liked that feature.

I'm thinking of going back to the AXE FX II. I had one and returned it. You can run two amps simul with it which is pretty cool but steep learning curve.

also, even with the gain around noon, I can't really hear the single notes in a E7#9, for example, in ch. 2 (i.e. sounds too muddy for the price this amp commands). I think my S120 does a little better in that respect.
