Driftwood Mini Nightmare Uh, I Didn’t Know ....

For this amp I think largely it is the preamp tubes. In V1 I used and old Sylvania 12ax7 In V2 I used a square getter Chinese 12ax7 And in the phase inverter a Sovtek LPS 12ax7 I did put some old Philips 7581a in the power section. I'm sure this helped some.

Driftwood Mini Nightmare Uh, I Didn’t Know ....

A quick test with the Driftwood: This is boosted with an Airis Savage Drive as I like it a bit more than the internal boost.

Driftwood Mini Nightmare Uh, I Didn’t Know ....

Had this amp for quite a while. Liked it but it was a bit dry and stiff. Had it prepped for storage for a few months but never actually moved it. Been experimenting with different tubes lately and thought I should set this up before putting it away. Glad I did! Sound perfect now and the...

New Tonex Release and Free Capture! Solid State Metal

Based on a Marshall VS8100 and an Ampeg VH140C. Give them a spin in the partner section of the app. Love both amps but the 8100 capture is surprising. https://www.tone.net/tonex/collections/live.ready.sound/solid.state.metal

NAD: Mesa Mark VII - the best?

Did you feel this way with the reissue? Also, pop some vintage Sylvania or Philips 7581a in there.

Metropoulos DVL-1....Any Of You Guys Tried One?

The DVL1 roots in more of a classic sound with the ability to have more gain. The Friedmans are a bit more modern and compressed.

Metropoulos DVL-1....Any Of You Guys Tried One?

Pretty sure it is his Supa Boost pedal built into the head. Adds additional drive and tone control. https://store.metropoulos.net/collections/pedals/products/copy-of-supa-boost-handwired-high-voltage-boost-pedal?variant=19776952860745

Boost Pedal Shootout: Fortin 33 vs. Airis Nemesis vs. Airis Mid Screamer

The Blade is definitely worth a thought. I have one and the 33. The Blade can do the 33 and a ton more. I don't use the 33.

    Do power tubes matter?

I rolled a ton of power tube in my KSR Ares. They all sound different in the room but when using a single SM57 they are more similar recorded. The Ares is very sensitive to tube changes.

Yeah, apologies, I am under the impression he was making impulses with an ISO cab. May be wrong.

So it is actually just a Q setting for the high boost?

    Pultec EQ in a pedal

So, if set to 0 or 10 you would get no frequencies effected or all frequencies effected?
