Currently have 3 guitars loaded with 3 different sets (all 10-52s):
Strat: Dean Markleys
Explorer: D'adarios
Kramer: GHS Mustaines
Just given them all a playtest, I think I like the Mustaines best, then the Markleys and the D'adarios.
I think Im going to go with Introspection as my fave Howe disc, Parralax is right up there though.
An underated fusion gem is Quid Pro Quo (Brett Garsed/TJ Helmrich), serious chops on their S/T disc (not heard any of the rest)
Im not a Yamaha expert, but every Yamaha axe I have ever picked up has seriously impressed me. Great quality, fit and finish. Isnt the Pacifica 612 the equivalent?
Yeah, you can do it. Every so often I run my strat through robo-levels of gain. Depending on the amp, it gets real bright though.
I thought metal was a state-of-mind anyway?!
Im going to say none. I dig natural wood these days. Not even the flamed/curly stuff, just the plain grains. I dont think im cool enough for this forum anymore!
Thats said, I do like Kirks karloff graphic, I just dont think I could play it!
I chatted to Doug about this a while back. He was stoked that I had heard about it, said it was a lot of fun to do. Quite a rocking soundtrack to that movie, IIRC.
I believe nuno used one on III sides to every story, along with a fender of some sort. There are some cool tones on that record. Ive never seen or played one though...
That probably didnt help!
Taking my univalve to practice tonight, its usually fine for volume. Got a different drummer today though. If I need to slave it into a poweramp, I presume I only need an instrument cable? Or does it need a speaker cable?
Ill start by saying I already have a Univalve and its awesome. I had it running on a single EL-84 the other day and it kept up great volume wise at a jam session. However, I could use more versatility. Knowing that THD has awesome tone, I though a flexi might be the answer. I cant really find...
Thanks for the tips guys! The Taylors is over my limit, but I will check it out for sure. One thing that worrys me, is that I live right by the sea, and the salty, damp air plays havoc with my strat neck. I guess I forgot to mention that earlier.
Im not going to have a chance to check out...
Urm. I dont know, haha. Like I say, I dont know anything about acoustics. I guess a good all rounder is in order? Whats the Les Paul of the acoustic world?
Anyone know anything about them. Probably looking in $800-900 range. Ive never been an acoustic player, so im well out of my depth. What should I be looking for? Id be nervous about getting something on the used market, unless you can reassure me...
Ideally, a cutaway would be nice, and...
I cant remember for the life of me what it is, but there is another video on the tube of the MG with great tone. It might be a marshall demo. It was sickening.
Ill take a look for it...
