Every H speaker I have tried with the band sucks. The highs get lost in the cymbals and lows get lost with the bass and kick. Very scooped midrange leaves nothing left to try fitting the guitar. Probably great for playing alone. Even the Redback needs mixed with a v30 to fill in the mids...

Megadeth. Metallica has a few songs that are cool. Never was much into them.

I use an OD with mine alot. MC1’s are good in that respect. I can see the more modern ones not being that way.

I guess if you want the 800 sound. Turn the bass to zero. mids maybe up a tiny bit, presence and treble pretty high. Master up high, gain maybe ten oclock and hit it with a tube screamer/ sd1.

The MC1 and VC sound like Marshalls without all the shit that sucks about a Marshall. All the clips posted are of the more current Wizards, MTL, MC2, Hell Razor etc. Those don’t sound like Marshalls. Mine sounds like my old Marshall rig. Super lead I modded myself into load box, eq/ fx...

They never sounded good to me even when they were new. The 2205/10’s are the only 800’s I thought sounded good. My old plexis were always modded 2203 circuits with 6550’s back in the day. They sounded good. But actual 2203’s whether JMP or JCM never sounded good. Just picked up a 78 2203...

Picked up a 78 2203 JMP that the headshell is pretty trashed cosmetically. Anywhere to get replacement plastic parts nowadays? Noone I typically deal with has logos, top vent or corners anymore.

We always referred to it as red doping. The stuff Wizard uses is a similar thing.

That was my first Wizard, 93 Metal. Sent it to Rick and had it modded. Gain mod, bass boost and tube fx loop. Loop Return gave me a nice overall master. Nice amp, on the brighter side.

Vintage Marshalls did the same thing with the red doping. The blue stuff he uses, if you know what it is, easily comes off.

It is one of the few high gain amps that still retains a vintage voice. Not the compressed, saturated, thin/ bright cap kinda tone. The notes don’t have “hair” on them. Big, solid sounding and never changes tone thru an entire 4 hour show cranked. I go from gig to gig and rarely ever need...

Could be. Never had a 50 watt. Never had a 50 watt anything I really liked either. Rick used to make a 4 tube 50. That might have been cool.
