Cool vid! Thanks for posting.
20V and the MPSa06's sound great :2thumbsup:
I love MPSa06 for a SAT circuit. It can be a bit much gain-wise. but the tone is always killer.
I hate the feel of zeners lower than 20V or 18V.
Actually, I usually do 20 / 18V zeners and MPSa06 on a switch. The...
Interesting..... I've had mine for a while, and I think it sounds really good.
I've seen some meh reviews of that pedal lately, and thought it was kinda strange.
But........my pedal has the jacks on the side

Amazing product. Expensive, but worth every penny.
10 loops,
can do 4 cable hook-up
Can act as an amp switcher ( AB/Y ) plus switch your amps channels
Not sure about re-ordering FX ?
Stupidly sold it to scale down my rig.
Tried to replace it with a...
Ampete user here as well.
I'm running the 444. Highly recommended (y)
4 amps into 4 cabs ,plus it can switch your loop FX chain between amps when you switch amps. Killer feature.
Fantastic piece of gear, and total piece of mind with thousands of $$ worth of amps connected to it.

Fixed or cathode bias has nothing to do with whether the circuit uses negative feedback. Negative feedback comes off the OPT and connects to the phase inverter.
My experience has been that cathode bias only affects the feel, making the amp more saggy / squishy vs fixed bias. I haven't detected...
Never tried his amps, but I've ordered amp parts and supplies from him so many times I've lost count.
Really good quality parts, with some unique, proprietary stuff I can't get anywhere else.
I love his relay boards and low voltage power supplies. Opto-fet switching board kicks ass as well...
Not withstanding screen resistor values for the different tube types, it should be noted that putting el34 / 6ca7 / Kt77 tubes in an amp designed for 6l6's is usually a bad idea due to the heater current draw of the el34 variants.
6l6 tubes draw .9 amps, while el34s draw 1.5 amps per tube. In...
Agreed. I'ts a cool tone, but even if you walked the amp into Dave's shop ( no shipping involved ) it would not be worth what it would cost for Dave to put the amp on his bench.
What it does: it changes the values of the resistors in the voltage divider network after the first BE gain stage...
Just wanted to chime in re: speakers.
For some reason, the 70th anniversary G12H30's sound crazy good with Jose style amps. I don't really dig them with any other amps, but goddamn do they sound good with Cameron / Jose / Cali type circuits.
The frequency response of those speakers just...
Yeah, that and completely the wrong target audience as well.
I'm watching the Thorn video, and all I keep thinking is, who the hell on this board is looking for that kinda tone?
Yes, if the amp already has a tube rectifier, it's a very simple mod.
Check out robrobinette.com for lots of great mods. Mostly Fender-centric, but this applies to any amp with a tube rectifier.

Once you verify that the cab is wired properly and all speakers are in phase, try moving the cab around the room
Even in my heavily treated live room, there are a couple spots where my cabs sound like shit. Could be something as simple as cab position and standing waves messing with the tone
