I have a box of pups sitting around...spares, time to roll them through! I just found an old slash alnico 2 duncan. Short lead but i can make that work. Not zebra but I can live with it.
Anyone try those tonerider pickups on Amazon? Great prices on those things and very good reviews. I'm willing to pay for a set of duncans but these seem to sound pretty good to my ears.
I was just looking at those a 20 min ago.. I remember that I used to have an epiphone with Slash Alnico II in them and that bridge sound was kick ass. I think that might be what is in order here.
I don't like many Dimarzios but I like the 36th anniversaries. In one of my LP clones, I have 500K pots and Dimarzio 36 anni neck and bridge. Neck sounds fantastic in this guitar. Hard to beat. the bridge is nice and crunchy and tight but it can feel a bit light in "girth" ( every woman's...
Ace has some cool memorable riffs and lead bits but I am always amazed at how such a mediocre and shitty for the most part guitar player was able to inspire millions and a total stud like Dimebag. It is fascinating. I mean, how do you go from a simple pentatonic scale in Love Gun to Cowboy's...
Altecs are super expensive used though..I missed out on a pair for 500 cad years ago. This combo would be popular if someone could create a speaker with that signature.. or reissue the altecs!
100%. I find he also tends to lean Ozzy era Sabbath which I just can't get into. That said, it was nice to hear a more Pride n Glory style guitar solo and some well thought out phrasing compared to his usual super fast drenched in chorus and wah/vibe doodle runs. Still needs to tune up though.
Fantastic stuff! But let's be honest.. they all sound kickass. That variac really does make a diff when you get it that low doesn't it? That's my biggest take away for that tone. As for pickups, liked the Super D the best and then that Classic 57 A2. Hell any of em will do it for me.. as long as...
Where is that latest monster EVH tone secrets thread?? Because Ross Hogarth slips up at 12:14 when telling an Ed story where he says " you have your MODDED Marshall .." as he is listing a few amps. He seems to suggest that Ed tinkered himself in his own stuff so they might just be a few simple...
Yes that's the key.. you have to get used to it for what it is and not think of it exactly like the amp. Sort of it's own beast and temperament. I run my Vol I just over noon and that's enough gain for me for the Plexi tone I want. If I want more gain, I just go to a higher gain module.
Fek, what are you thinking after a few days on the module?? I'm liking mine now. I still love the Brahma, but for sure the JMP module has more depth and def more sag and squish making it more authentic. Can't push the gain too much though but I really like VOL II bright cap set in the middle...
Hey, just my personal opinion but not like the couldn't get the job done.. or maybe I just hate the sound of his snare?? lol. Always have. Fuck that snare.
