I love the Aldrich pickups. I have them in a few Suhrs and my Les Paul Custom, and I just got another Aldrich bridge pickup to throw in a Suhr Modern. It's tight, but with a sweet top end. If I'm doing high gain stuff, it's either an Aldrich or EMG 81 for me. Infinitely prefer it over the JB.
It would be a commute for sure :)
That, and I actually like the newer Greenbacks with the amps that I have. The 6402 cone Greenies are amazing with a Super Lead or 800 because they're a little smoother in the top end, but my current amps are already a little smoothed out in that area and I...
Here's a screenshot. The top WAV file is my Splawn into my Suhr Reactive Load with no IR. The bottom file is printed with an IR of a Celestion V30 mic'd with an SM57
The A/D D/A conversion definitely changes the dynamics with re-amping. But, you're going to have channel strip compressors, bus compressors, master fader compressors and mastering. In a full mix, the difference is pretty negligible.
Letting go of my excellent condition A7X's. I just have a few pairs of monitors and am cutting a few things loose. $1,000 shipped in the continental USA or $900 cash in the Portland, OR area.
Anyone between Portland, OR and Seattle have a Friedman 4x12 that they'd want to swap for a 6402 cone Celestion Greenback loaded Wizard 4x12? Not interested in any other cabs. Cabs are about equal value, so trade value is the going rate of each cab.
If you love the guitar, you're going to play the hell out of it and will need to refret it at some point anyway. Just do it now and enjoy it that much more.
On one of the more recent ToneTalk episodes Dave mentioned that the Shuguang folks will finally be back up and running soon.
I tried the JJ E83CC's (not ECC83) in my Splawn and Friedman recently and they're cool. Not my favorite tubes of all time, but brighter than the regular JJ ECC83 and...
For what its worth, I managed music stores for a long time and there's just no way for sub-par gear to survive anymore. There's a lot of stuff that wouldn't personally appeal to me, but even entry level stuff is pretty damn good these days.
Looking for a Suhr Modern with a roasted maple neck and a straight 16" radius. Either a hardtail or a non-recessed 510 trem. Rosewood or ebony board preferred.
These are based around the idea of some of the voicings, but they're not correct. Or rather, they're not consistently sticking to those scales. For example in 'Harmonic minor Lick B', it has both a M7 and m7 in the pattern. So it's actually loosely based off of a melodic minor idea rather than a...
I've had three PT-100's wanting to love them, but they aren't for me. For what I'm after (and it sounds like you're after) they're a little tubby in the lows for my tastes and there's a honk to the midrange that didn't work for me that I just couldn't dial out. Gorgeous clean tones, impeccably...
