+1 for the BE-OD
Not an OD, but rather it's a brilliant and versatile distortion pedal! Open it up and turn down the internal trimpot from the stock 12:00 setting to 9:00. I hear a little extra clarity using an 18V power supply instead of 9V as well.
I respectfully differ on this point. If you want a more gradual taper starting from 100% volume downward, then a linear taper will be more gradual. Humans do perceive volume in a logarithmic fashion, but the concept of logarithmic volume perception doesn't directly correlate to the concept of a...
Use a linear taper pot instead. Audio taper pots have a logarithmic taper, which means the volume will be cut heavily as you make small adjustments from 100% downward. This is technically "correct" because volume knobs on all audio products adjust dBs (logarithmic). But in practice for guitar, I...
Great! Can't wait to hear clips. FF's tone has always been on the radar, especially anything inspired by Demanufacture.
Funny, I usually use the FSM channel with the gain barely cracked. Maybe I should be talking with James about getting a different channel that's targeted at lower...
The BE-OD is phenomenal in front of a clean amp! But turn down the internal trimpot gain to a hair below 9:00. Too much gain with the stock 12:00 setting. Amazing with this simple adjustment.
We are on the same page then. I bought the BE-OD as a distortion pedal rather than as an overdrive. Saw people commenting that it is really more an AIAB distortion pedal and I completely agree. It doesn't work well for me as an overdrive either. It should have been named differently without "OD"...
Did you guys try turning down the internal trim pot gain on it? Just got a BE-OD and had read up on this ahead of time. Sure enough, the gain is set ridiculously high stock. In my opinion it's almost unusable out of the box. But I turned the internal trim pot way down from the default 12:00 to...
LOL. Really looking forward to the Ax8 comparison through the same cab or Torpedo cab! The Katana clips members here have posted sound better to me than most Ax8 clips I've heard..
The exchange rate may be helping. The British Pound has dropped a lot against the US dollar in the last year or so, and recently took a bigger dive. Marshall UK is probably taking little or no loss at these prices in terms of their local currency.
The euro has dropped as well. If anyone from...
For everything you are talking about doing consider a Fryette Power Station along with an analog cab sim such as the Aiken Gold Brick.
For home DAW recording use the PS as the load, and its line out into the DAW. Do the IRs in a plugin inside the DAW.
For attenuation, the PS handles this. For...
+1. The Power Station has a better load than the Torpedo Live and you can use it with your real cabs as an attenuator. If your goal is home recording then you don't need to do the IRs in hardware. Handling the IRs in the DAW gives more flexibility in the plugins used. The Torpedo Live is great...
Check the gear on eBay using completed listings (sold only) and see if anyone recently bought any of it, and for how much. If anything did sell, take some good pictures and start the auction at 20% under the last selling price. Make sure the auction ends on a weekend. You'll get as much as it's...
Good find! I did some digging with test signals and see the same thing. Looks like WoS heavily truncates the IR. MixIR2 does also, but less than WoS does. I couldn't get IR1A to work without crashing, probably because I'm running OSX Sierra. So I checked against a convolution reverb plugin...
Seriously, try the peroxide/water mix at home. Make a solution with 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% water. Make sure the water is lukewarm, so that the temperature feels neutral on the inside of your wrist. Then lay down with your head on its side so one ear is facing straight up. Use a bulb to...
