If the mod looks good and sounds good I'd go with the mod. Of course you could just get the stock one and mod it however you want (or don't) or just add boosts OR snag a soldano hot mod or kasha quick mod.
Well I decided to take a chance, bought the super comp, it has kt88s and 100/50 watt capabilities, plexi style look and looks almost mint, priced right at 1k. I’ll definitely post my thoughts on it once I get it
Looking up a ton of clips, both seem to sound great, seems like the QR might be more along what I'm looking for, but the Kt88 nitro/supercomp really sounds great, reminds me of the Framus Cobra but more I guess "full" sounding. Of course it's hard to tell through youtube lol. Might just take a...
 great bands and awesome tones! Been on a huge thrash kick lately
But I'll check up on QR too, used Splawns go for a great price so it's hard for me to resist lol. Ever since I joined this forum I've been super interested in them due to all the great reviews on here, but tried to avoid...
I'm pretty new to Splawn, I've never played one and probably won't have the opportunity unless I buy it.
I was a huge fan of the JCM 800 2204 that I owned after I boosted it, and I'm also a fan of Laney Gh100Ls, I've owned a few and they rule. I would consider those amps in the same ballpark...
Fryette definitely can, especially with a boost.
Framus Cobra can be scored for that price, with correct bias and tubes it’s hard to beat
Edit: just saw your Framus Cobra in the sig lol
I’d try a fryette deliverance 120, huge punishing low end
Looking for one of these https://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifi ... r-amp-head
Specifically only looking for the Gus G heaven and hell head, not the other models of the series.
I'm trying to kill some REALLY old amp gas, this could be the first amp I really wanted, but I was too broke to...
Judging by my experience with the cab and brief experience with the KK head, sounds like a match made in heaven, that head is a beast!
I'm sure the Port City will be a great cab, it gets a lot of praise, and I'd say with the right speakers the difference between it and a good 4x12 will be...
WOAH!
Just a couple seconds I was checking your post, you explained that you are starting to gig regularly, thus hauling a heavy 4x12 isn't as practical as a light 212!
Funny thing is when I first got my Marshall KK I was all set on getting a FB or D412 !
Now I see your message here, magic...
Also, to address your original post, I have a fat bottom cab with p50e, I actually preferred it with other amps over the fryette/vht ones I've owned. I owned the Deliverance 120, and pitbull CL and I found that both of those sounded stale with p50e
However, I played Laney GH100L and a Framus...
I’m curious on the OS also, and whether I should go vertical or not, I’m thinking vertical. They are located close to me and they offered to let me try out a cab for a week before I make any decisions, they seem like really nice folks
Yeah and I’m about to start gigging a ton so I’d really like to get something more portable. Would love to get that mills 2x12 you have, never any deals that good local to me lol
