I went the opposite direction, when I got back into guitar several years ago I started out with modelers (Pod XT pro at the time), moved to amps since then. Having said that, it'd be nice to have both at my disposal. Modelers are amazing for just sitting down and writing with, and real amps...
Anyone have experience using these vs 12AX7's? I'm kicking around the idea of trying them in my EVH 50 watter, which (to my uses) has silly amounts of gain, even at lower levels.
TIA.
Lack of determination and perseverance is what it boils down to for me. In retrospect it wouldn't have been a life I'd have wanted for an extended period of time anyhow.
I sold quite a bit of gear there over the past several months. Every transaction went smoothly, but some of the lowball bids there were pretty humorous.
This was my experience as well. Radio did absolutely nothing to directly tailor my listening habits at a young age, it was hand-me-down albums, and then word of mouth. So it always makes me raise an eyebrow when folks complain about the radio being bad, or generic, etc, as if something...
I'm not sure it even matters whether rock is 'dead' or not. It's certainly no longer backed by the tons of PR money that it used to be.
Whether it's popular or not by some arbitrary standard really doesn't matter at all. The folks who want to carry the torch forward will do so, the folks who...
Owned an EL-34 20th Anniversary for several years (recorded both albums with it), and have nothing bad at all to say about it. Every time plugging in brought a smile to my face (well, aside from my own terrible playing). Red channel has stupid amounts of gain to my ears. With the power...
I'd say that mid level gear will sell just as well on CL, and you don't need to deal with shipping or pp cuts. High end gear gets sold here because this crowd tends to be interested in that sort of thing. *shrug*
It does require patience though. Some things I've sold in minutes, others...
What he said... and there's one for sale here! *cough*. :)
I'll cough up for an R121 one of these days.... When it comes down to it, you still can't really go wrong with a 57. Just get it pointed where it needs to be, other mics aren't so picky about placement.
