    Fun times...made a new song & Video

Been traveling a lot and trying to finish up a few songs for the fun of it. Like many of us I released a couple of self made albums before but decided to do a whole new project. Called it Dorian Prey. Just finished this one up yesterday. Appreciate any feedback, especially before I release it...

    Guitar Market Poll

It’s a small industry built on disposable income, so I think it will always be volatile.

    What Was Your Latest NGD?

Picked this up on my trip to Japan a few weeks shop. PRS Studio Custom 24 in Pearl Black. Absolutely love it. The DMO pickups are a little darker than I normally like but still really good. The neck pickup is awesome the bridge pickup is good just wish it had a tad more bite. The guitar plays...

Slaving vs Attenuating vs Load + IR

I've used a Suhr RL since they were launched around 2016 i think. A few months ago I bought a RedSEVEN Evo Central and love that too. I just think of the Reactive Loads as speakers, special speakers that can have various EQ curves (IR's) thrown on them to adjust the sound. To the OP, that's my...

DiMarzios are better than Duncans...change my mind

When I saw this title I thought "oh sht, it's on, I strapped myself in ready to to watch a rumble" haha I love Dimarzios, have tried a bunch of them. I think the Evolution is a great rock/metal pickup and sounds great in every guitar I've ever put them in. The Utopia is based on the Evolution...

For you conspiracy fans: The Grunge Conspiracy

Agree here, Hair ran its course, then Grunge ran its course, then the next, etc... I remember reading a Guitar For the Practicing Musician interview with Ronnie Le Tekro from TNT back in around 1988 or 89 where they asked him what was the future of guitar. He said something to the effect of...

Guitar country of origin: Does it matter?

Just depends on what's important to the person. For me I spent so many years with crap equioment only dreaming of having great USA/Japan/Europe made gear that playing something from Indonesia, China, etc...just feels off. I'm sure it's mental more than the guitar itself unless it's some $150...

Having An Absolute Blast Right Now...

Awesome. The JVM is a really cool amp. I got a used one for $800 around 2018 or so and love it. Then I got a modded 1984 JCM800 and still liked the JVM better. I sent the JCM off to Friedman and the mod ripped out and a new mod put in. It sounds great but the JVM just feels 3D sounding with a...

Unpopular Music and Gear Opinions that Should be More Popular

I guess we’ve ran out of shit to argue about. But it did get me thinking and searching on who actually outsold and found this article listing the top 50. It says Priest is #6 and Kiss at #7...

    Thinking about a 7 string

Definitely go for it. I'd start with something used and cheap to see if you like it so you can flip it back for about the same price if it doesn't work out. Low risk. I started out with a used Ibanez RG 7421. I think that is a good one to start especially if you like Ibanez, then go up from...

Unpopular Music and Gear Opinions that Should be More Popular

Every Gibson model is boring Charvel needs to shitcan the Fender headstock and go back to their pointy version standard There ain’t that much difference in high gain amps (ducks for cover)

I don't understand the high end Pickup Market

Was away a few days and saw a 10 page RT post on pickups, knew it would deliver!!! I’ve always looked at those $1k range pickups built with some material (NOS maybe) or some method from yesteryear that you can’t get any more. I don’t think of them as giving a completely unique sound or...

EQ in loop to alter tone?

This. I have used 2 EQ’s for years. One as the first pedal in front pushing mids and one post amp that’s scooped. Adjust to taste depending on what I’m doing. Highly recommend.
