Wouldn't his amp have a different Transformer since it was built for 6550's or they used the same? Maybe I'm missing something. My mid 80's JCM 800 2204 was built for 6550's but I had it converted to El34's for cost/ease of getting tubes (30 years ago!) . . . Do they have the same...
OP, I've used an older version of the Weber Bias Calculator for at least 20 years now. It's a good guideline.. For some reason they list every friggin tube other than 6550's . There's another calculator online which'll suggest 50-58ma of current will be good. 6550's are heartier than KT88's...
I think I know who you're talking about. . I fell out of my chair. . . With that said I'm a gearhead who's played for ages, but I also refer to myself as a 'basic barband guitarist' . . lol. My most eye-opening experience was when the internet was young, we had a Northeast regional forum jam...
Gotcha! If that's true, then yep I see your point. That happens with some other guys on various forums and it always bugged me. Haven't witnessed this , so I'll bail out now. . I will say I've heard "Velcro Fly's" MC25 via internet video's with his band, and it sounds just great, and I...
I can't bash Wizard as I've never owned one, but I do have 20+ other great amps and don't have the desire. Tonedog is Steve Snider, he's an excellent guitarists in lots of genres, and as much of a gearhead as you'll find. Not Donnie. He owned a Bogner/2-Rock dealership at 1 point as I'm 2...
That totally blows, but I live in 1 of the smallest States in the country (VT) and our local tech was able to easily fix my StreetRod once when the Bridge Rectifier ceased to work. It's like a less than $5.00 part. Scott mailed me the part, and the tech fixed it. I know that probably isn't...
Nice , I'm glad you found it. Mine is an 80's Hiwatt Lead 50 and it doesn't say the name on the fuse holder. I did the measurements and all I could figure is it was a Cliff. I have old Marshalls and it looked similar. .Meanwhile, there were no Cliffs for sale , and I bought one at...
Mine was a Ventura Nylon String/Classical, and a 66 Strat .. Got the Classical from my mom, who I can't even remember her playing it, and I definitely never learned how to play Classical music. I did learn rock on it though and wrote tunes on it. The 66 Strat with case and a Gretsch Tube...
If it's a Cliff, I needed one for a Hiwatt I was trying to fix. . I couldn't find one ANYWHERE in the world.. That sucked. . That was just 3 months ago. Hope you have better luck
Eric
I have a few Splawns, but have been using the Mini -Competition for quite awhile at my gigs. I guess my favorite boost is the Fulltone OCD as that's always on my pedalboard with this amp at gigs. I also have a DCW Jam-Ray that's great with it, the Suhr original Kokoboost is great, the...
Can't help ya, but I will say the original Brian Moore's were, to me, some of the best looking guitars I'd ever seen. I played a few back in the day and I was so used to my Strats and Ibanezes that the necks didn't work for me, so never bought one, but I'd love to re-visit that now 35 years...
Thanks for posting this. I've been watching his videos non-stop for the last hour from the Metal ones like Gordon Ramsey and the Karens, to the Drill Sergeant/Baboon, to the playing every MUSE song on bass. . . He's f'ing brilliant!
Eric
I've been in that mindset for years. . But the ALEX attenuator (I have the original one) and the cheapie Bugera PS1 sound better than those you mentioned. . To me , a lot better. . If someone could definitely tell me the Fryette's were better sounding with NMV and MV amps than those 2 I'd...
