Ok, I was gonna ask privately some people, but instead of bothering them I'll make it an open question maybe you can all shed some light.
I'm a noob when it comes to rack rigs, so far I've only owned heads and combos and since I'm getting an awesome preamp and a Digi GSP1101 I need to make this...
Man 45 lbs for just the Poweramp, then you add the preamp, plus a Digitech DSP1101 that'll run for FX and modelling in the rig, PLUS the rack case....... you're talking 80-90 lbs total.
Yeah, like I said this rig will not be for live playing for a while, just for recording mainly and Studio jamming/practice. I play acoustic guitar mostly live. I wanted something light, even though it'll be in the studio, I'll have to move the rack from the cab/amp area to the computer area in...
I'm getting one of Olaf's Preamps. I play mostly Clean, dirty clean and some very light crunch. But I'll play some hard rock and Metal for fun.
This preamp will not see live action (for now) so I'm not interested in having it excel at high volumes
thanks for the recommendations guys. I think I'll go with the Rocktron.
I only have a Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue combo at the moment, so I don't think the preamp will sound that great through it.
What are the best out there?

2) sounds good although it doesn't have to be THE BEST since It'll be used for house jamming.
3) doesn't need to have tubes, I'm flexible specially the purpose of it.
4) no...
I need to buy a GOOD guitar software to run in Logic. I'm constantly recording at night and I cannot use my amps. I'd buy an Axe Fx or any other high quality modeller but I need to use it ASAP since I'm recording an album. It's an acoustic album so all the electric guitar parts will be clean...
IS there any "rhythm guitar/riff" instrumental album? seems like all rock/metal instrumental albums are a shred fest.
I'd like to hear a GOOD rhythm guitar based instrumental.
Hey sandman I know what it feels like.
I'll recommend something different from everyone.
Sell the big stuff..... keep a guitar or two that you really really like, both tone and feel (guitars are a bit harder to get back as they don't play the same), but sell the amps and the cabs. That stuff...
I have a VH4 and I understand what you mean. You can try to change all the tubes in the world and try all the boosts in the world but if the CHARACTER of the amp and the FEEL of it is not your thing you'll end up flipping it neither way.
IMO an amp must talk to you from the very beginning. If...
