thank you. I think it sounds great too, I was gladly surprised with the Hagen (I though it was gonna be a watered down VH4, but it's not.
I think the Hagen would be the amp for the OPs tones.
I really liked the Hagen when I tried it. I think even more so than the VH4 because it has a bit more saturation which I've discovered that I like for metal/hard rock tones.
The VH4 is a masterpiece but the Hagen I think is a great amp
here's a video I made of the hagen at the local music store some weeks ago. For some reason it came up upside down, but you just wanna listen to the amp not see me lol
The sound lacks brightness because the cab was pointing another direction, but the tone is very clear imo.
The guitar was an...
Serious balls there. I really REALLY liked it for heavy stuff.
They had a VH4next to and it sounded, well just like my VH4. BALLSY, BIG, but I was really really surprised with the Hagen. It's like a VH4 with more crunch and sharper. I actually preferred it to the VH4.
Extremely good amp!

guys I'm selling my VH4, if anyone's interested it's a 2001 model updated to 2007+ specs by papa himself.

I think the fact that it has A LOT of gain still makes it an "in between" amp that people don't know what to make...
I think I'll add one of this beauties to my arsenal sometime in the future. Also like the fact that they are a polish company. The wife is polish and I have lots of polish friends. We go there at least once a month.
I'm trying to make it at the moment. Went a little bit different than most.
Started playing guitar and listening to rock at age 12, got very good (other's opinion not mine) at rhythm guitar playing and riff writing (wasn't interested in lead playing at the time) and dabbled in band formation...
I'm looking into buying a cool vintage type of amp. something simple and straight up like a Silvertone or something like that. Specially for cheap (less than $1,000).
What experience do you have on this matter?
cheers.
I guess my inner gay boy came out just as much as the ass kissing that sometimes flies around here between forum members right?
I'm also glad you're not fanboy to anyone, it makes you a far superior person
Don't you think Hetfield is one of the rock guys with the most amount of presence? to me this guy just projects presence. Always found interesting Joe Berlinger's comment about James on a book he wrote about the experience while producing and filming the Some Kind Of Monster documentary:
