He’s not my favorite song writer, but really is a standout live performer who brings out some really stellar musicians on tour.
I’ve seen him live a few times & it’s always been a great show.
I’d really love to try all 3 side by side.
The IR-X goes pretty heavy with the aggressive upper mids, which I like but also wish could be tamed down a bit.
For what I want out of it though, it’ll work.
I’ve kinda settled on the Friedman IR-X as my small format backup solution.
It’s a bit of a one trick pony, but I could get through a gig with it in a pinch. It’s also decent for recording direct.
I’m glad we have both.
Nearly half my amp collection is 25w or less these days, which is great for every day home playing.
The rest are 50-100w, because they’re stupid & glorious.
I agree with most of what he said, though most of it is pretty common knowledge these days.
Years ago I really fought with lower tunings, to the point that I just came to avoid them. You really have to treat them like a different animal & shift your expectations.
It also helps that there are a...
For my liking, if you want to go down that rabbit hole, it’s best to have a decent collection of all the classics.
Tubescreamer, Klon, Rat, Bluesbreaker, fuzz, ODR, Bluesdriver, etc. or whatever modern iteration of those you like, there are tons of great ones now. Choose 2-3 that play well...
I accepted a long time ago, that most people who ask my opinion on anything guitar-related have no intention of putting said knowledge to use.
Sounds like she needs to find a teacher who has long nails & can show her how to play with them.
After years of running a multi channel midi switching rig with all the fx I could ever want, I switched to running a VHT deliverance straight in & loved it. Used my volume knob to silence in between songs.
I was actually annoyed some years later when I joined another band that called for a more...
I’ve not done a close comparison like that, but the looping function on my Timeline & DL4 sound just a tiny bit quieter & darker than my RC1.
They all work fine for me, just playing something to noodle over. However, the boss is much more handy when I want to loop a phrase to dial in pedal or...
As a rule, yes...
Realistically though, I don't think any small to mid-sized outfit could produce decent guitar in the US for less than $1500-2k. When you consider shops located in say CA; with the high cost of real estate, taxes, labor, etc. $2500-3500 for something with a nice maple top &...
Sweet looking TA!
My guitar teacher in high school played an Anderson tele that I got to play a handful of times and I've wanted one ever since. His little shop here in town carried them for the longest time, never had more than 2-3 in stock. Just looked him up on Facebook, looks like he's...
