As others have mentioned, the sweet spot is highly dependent on each individual pickup, along with the player and rig.
I palm mute the low string and thump it really good.
Keep adjusting until it sounds full and punchy instead of overly thick and wompy.
I then adjust the treble side, but...
To add onto the pickup thing I mentioned earlier -
I would think the pickups would be part of attaining that sound.
Kinda fat sounding, but with a clear edge, and lots of harmonic content.
The description of kind of saturated but clear....
That's how I would describe the PT set.
That is...
Nice! I actually happen to have a set of pickups that really promotes this sound.
I did not realize it until after I bought them but this is the sound.
Planet Tone Pound cake humbucker set.
I was ignorant of the song 'Pound Cake' and grabbed them based off of their description alone...
Absolutely beautiful looking and sounding Griffin Analog Super Drive!

That makes sense.
Agreed - the intense volute and 3 piece neck should be rock solid. I've gotten to play a few with that style. The ones I got to play were also pretty damn thick/beefy feeling in general.
I honestly never would have understood or believed the hype until I got this '00 McCarty. Damn dude - this thing is an absolute masterpiece of a guitar.
First off - how dare you,
My ears were present when this was playing!
I'm not sure what's worse - the music, or the video. Both are pretty damn terrible.
I saw this video earlier thought it was a really solid release.
Good on them.
At $150 it's reasonable enough.
Seems fairly player friendly and versatile as far as fuzzes go.
I play basically directly into my amp majority of the time but when I want those pedals....oh baby.... Lol
Definitely a bunch of pedal lovers on RT.
