Interesting discussion with sound guy last night…

I see about 50/50 split these days. Crowd doesn't give a shit and neither do I. What they use is completely irrelevant if the tone is good and the show rocks. Don't listen when your eyes!

    Dave Murray now using Fractal

Amazing rig! But if you dare model it into a Fractal I will personally shit on your porch and tell you your tone is shit.

    Dave Murray now using Fractal

Last guy in my studio who made the claim "not as good as the real amp" failed every single A/B test I threw at them. Proof people listen with their eyes more than their ears.

    Dave Murray now using Fractal

Not OP, but I used to gig with a JMP-1 and moved the whole thing over to Fractal. Way better overall experience. I'm unsure as to what people's issues is. If no one made a rig rundown, no one would know he changed to Fractal, and thus no one care? Here's my old rig split up and safe at home

    Dave Murray now using Fractal

Good point. My guess would be the noise gate, reverbs, delays, choruses, phasers, EQs, more advanced MIDI, ontop of the the fact it acts as a preamp all in 3U. I like that they still dragged out the old rig with them just in case.

    Dave Murray now using Fractal

I have a JMP-1 and I have the JMP-1 profile in the Fractal. They both sound pretty (awesome and) similar through the same IR. I wouldn't care which one I had live, I don't think Dave does either. It was a blast. They played alot of songs I never thought I'd hear, was quite emotional during Lost...

    Dave Murray now using Fractal

Saw them tonight. Dave sounded fantastic during his solos. I've always found maiden's live sound a little washy, but not in a bad way. They've modelled the JMP-1 into the Fractal then used it to run the power amp and cabs still. If he can't tell the difference, I can promise you no one in the...

Questions About The G Major 1 and JMP-1 FX Loop

Maybe the loop was designed for the JFX-1? I also enjoy my ADA MP-1, like a hot rodded marshall in a 1U. "The JMP-1 has an interesting effects loop in that it is parallel at lower settings and series at higher settings. For the loop to work well at lower settings you have to remove all the dry...

Questions About The G Major 1 and JMP-1 FX Loop

I've been rebuilding my home rack rig and pulled out an old Lexicon unit to use elsewhere. This left me a 1U rack space for an effects unit so I grabbed a cheap TC Electronics G Major 1 that popped up. I had a poor experience with the G Major 2, which needed a new ribbon cable for the screen...

Yup! Letting out repressed homoerotic feelings on a guitar forum... classic. :ROFLMAO: He talked about cock, balls and butt stuff more than all of the gays I know in real.

I think his premise was: Dressing weird, shredding guitar, pissing off the oldies in the 1980s = GOOD Dressing weird, shredding guitar, pissing off the oldies in the 2020s = BAD

I remember seeing Kyrpajyra get banned in real time. Tim Henson got mentioned and he got so triggered, he started posting gaping mens assholes for some reason. Sounds like a joke when I read that back. :ROFLMAO:

    My Bands New Music Video

Hope ya'll don't mind me posting this here! A departure from my usual rack rig stuff! The guitar rig was: Main Rythm Tone - AxeFX 2 5150+ block Main Clean Tone - Gallien Kreuger 250ML into AxeFX 2 for Delays/Pitch Main Solo Tone - JMP-1 Preamp, Lexicon PCM, Palmer Macht402, Celestion V30...

Is Rig Talk the Most-entertaining Gear Forum on the 'Net?

It's the only forum where I've been called names and homophobic slurs when discussing tone. So it's got that going for it!

Axe fx 3 tones!!! This thing is insane!

My old set up was a JMP-1 EL84 20/20 big heavy valve rack. Had a G-Major 2 in there too with MIDI patch changing using a MIDI pedal. Would mic up a 2x12 on stage in stereo. Then I moved to Fractal with a smaller MIDI pedal and just hand the direct feeds to the sound guy. Then I've got a Palmer...

    My God...This Tone!!!

I guess quad tracking bendy chords would create that pleasing washy chorus effect. Bob rock split the MK3 signal to other cabinets with really low gain and using a DLL for modulation. Essentially double Stereo tracks. Exactly how I do it!
