    Jazz III picks- discussion thread

That's what I did. i used the Ultex sharp for a few months before switching to ultex Jazz. The material is the same. However, i do find the Jazz feels stiffer, due to its smaller size. By that i mean a 1.38mm Jazz feels stiff like a 1.4 or 2mm Ultex sharp.

    Jazz III picks- discussion thread

as my OP stated, my new discoveries with the Ultex Jazz III really was a big improvement on my picking technique, it was instantly noticeable compared to my Ultex Sharps, which feels more bulky and sluggish in comparison. What is it that you dig about the Ultex Jazz?

cool, I've seen them around. have to give it a try. Are the materials (delrin) a lot different than the Jazz III?

    Jazz III picks- discussion thread

Man, that was my problem with the original Jazz III 20 years ago. i stopped using them because it seems that I could never get a good grip, it felt too small. But with the Ultex, the material seems to slice through the string with a little more bite. Of course my picking technique has taken...

    Jazz III picks- discussion thread

I never thought i would use Jazz IIIs again, used to use it about 2 decades ago when i was starting out. One of the forum member was kind enough to send some of the JP Jazz III that he wasn't using awhile back, it kinda sparked my interest in them again. But it wasn't until i started using...

    Banned from Fractal Forum

that's why I love it here, we're more liberal open minded bunch. Try saying something like that over at the Music Man forum.

So I went to Paul Gilbert's great guitar escape last week.

Here's the big question: Did you get a chance to observe his right hand technique? Is it really all wrist movement with the pick slices down on the side of the blade at a slight angle towards the floor?

New to Los Angeles, want to pursue the dream.. need advice

great tips here  I was at a local bar once watching John Scofield play. Went back to the bar to have a beer, saw some local guitarists chatting up a storm. It seemed to me that all they were doing was talking shit about everybody, even cutting down Sco, who they were there to see??!?

    Vintage Doug Aldrich/Lion attempt

nice job, man. I never heard the original. But I like the solo at the end there. sounded like something Aldrich would play when he was on tour with Dio.

    New EVH stripy guitars

I got to try one today. Basically agreed with all the consensus you guys posted. I'll add some of my own: Pros 1- Great neck, very comfortable for shred but thick enough for really dirty playing as well. 2- Great Wolfgang bridge pickup, thick with tons of note definition. 3- It looks cool, the...

Brown Sound Video Demo - EVH Riffs & Leads

i wouldn't call this a Brown sound, but it's a fuckin' nice tone nevertheless. I love Trace's work, I still have an Egnater EG5 module he modded. I can see this sound with a lower output pickup or a good single coil, that would probably get closer to Brown

    early tapping-1965-italy

this guy was way ahead of his time. Great tapping ideas, especially to tap walking bass lines? very cool. EVH is still the one responsible for making it so popular. He definitely was the first to do it through a crank Marshall, basically sounding like a rock Allan Holdsworth.

How to play Hotel California... Don Felder video!

the very fact that Felder is no longer in the band makes you wonder. My 2 cents : "Hotel California" is nothing without the music behind it. the acoustic riffs, the fills and the solos are all signature iconic parts. Everybody know those parts, not just musicians.

EVH 5150 iii "Popping" when powering off

Listen, i have the exact problem with my 5150 III. Here's where my problem came from: the effects loop, apparently if whatever i have in the effects loop is on, then when I power off it'll cause a loud pop. So I just made sure to turn off the effect loop before powering off, problem solved...

    Duncan YJM Fury pickups

How do you like the clarity and tone for fast picking stuff? I always prefer single coils for their clarity and openness. The JB and PAF Pro I have on my 73 right now are too compress at high gain settings,
