I am thinking of buying one of the new offerings after taking a break from strings. I have a So-cal from a few years back great guitar. Any opinions on the new ones? I like the new selector switch and tone controls.
That's not the loop I had the same issue. It seemed like the loop to me but it was actually a preamp tube. You description is exactly my problem to a tee. take a pencil with an eraser, on each channel barely tap each tube that drives the preamp channel with the eraser and listen and see if any...
I had on of the 1X12 combos for a few years I really enjoyed it. I had strymon build me an extra gain stage for it and then had a bias mod done. It was a cool amp, you can get on tone finder and find the clip it is called Ballad Jam with the same Moniker name.
Thanks nevusofota I appreciate the help. I went ahead and retubed channel 3 all Tung-Sol and it made quite a bit of difference cleaner sounding for sure.
Found it V2! changing V2 to a Tong-Sol cleaned just a bit of lower mids up, So it does change the tone ever so slightly I suspect that changing all 3, V2, V3, V4 will probably make a bit of difference to my ears. Also the 12AX7's in there are unmarked.
It is more than likely V2 V3 or V4 because channel 1 and 2 have no real issues. I will try the tap test to see if 1 went microphonic. I guess I get a chance to see how my lucky Chinese 12ax7b's do in those slots. judging by most peoples comments it probably wont be a drastic difference. I would...
Well I was on channel 3 when it happened. By the tube diagram it could be V1 thru V4. But Channel 3 now has feedback like crazy so it has to be a tube. Would a power tube do that or just preamp?
I was working on a commercial today and had 2 delays and 2 verbs in the loop noticed 5 volume drops, down and up I flipped it into standby flipped it back out of standby and it seems to be noisier than usual. I usually don't have to run my NS-2 but had to in order to finish. Turned the NS-2 off...
