Chuck Billy is one of my favorite metal vocalists ever!

    XTC 20thA or Axe Fx3?

I've owned the XTC 20th Anniversary with 6L6 tubes. One of my very favorite tube amps I have owned. It was a Swiss Army Knife and did it all very well. I think you would be very happy with it if you like the previous XTC versions. I have a couple of other clips but here is one I recorded about...

    Anyone else find modelers/sims uninspiring?

I recently sold my FM9 and grabbed a Kemper Stage. I almost forgot how great the Kemper is and how good it feels. Plus, I love using Performance mode when playing live.

Recommend a Delay and Reverb pedal for 80s metal

I use the TC Electronic Flashback. Sounds great on my tube rig and it has a 2290 setting if you want it to sound reminiscent of the real thing.

    3rd Power Dragon Head

I've been gigging and rehearsing with mine for over 6 years. I just had my first power tube go out. Dylana offered for me to send it to her and she would just do a full tune-up on it. It doesn't need it but I think I am going to take her up on it.

    3rd Power Dragon Head

I haven't played a Dragon, but I'm more than happy with my Kitchen Sink combo. It is easily my favorite tube amp I've ever owned.

I'm going to check out all of these. Thanks all!

    Your Favorite New Rig Product

I usually keep things pretty lowkey and use basic items for my rig. I was getting tired of using normal instrument cords at home and decided to try this wireless unit out. It has been awesome so far! For $150, it’s an absolute no brainer. May even use them live but I have a rock solid Shure unit...

Bands you got into way too late

For me, it is Big Wreck. I finally gave them a listen and I'm disappointed I didn't listen to them sooner. Ian Thornley is a badass!

Fryette / Rectifier / CAA / Soldano - You can only have one

I owned a brand-new VHT CLX back in 2007/2008. It was a great amp! I kind of wish I had it back. One of my favorite EL34 amps I've owned. I feel like Fryette's are polarizing, as people either love them or can't gel with them. I hear they aren't saturated enough, but I've always found it to be...

    Tone rant of the day...

I'm with you George. I haven't had many problems at all. I always keep a trusty e609 with me and I know exactly where to put it on my speaker to get the tone out front I want. In fact, I know my rig well enough that when sound guys ask me to play, it only takes them about 10 seconds to say...

Man, Sykes Live Tone Here Is Pretty Great!!!

What a performance by the trio and his rig sounds great even at this quality. I can only imagine what it sounded like live.

    Your favorite shredder?

Next to the Michael Romeo clip I posted, this clip from Petrucci is the best of both worlds for me in terms of shred and melodic sensibility. Love it!

    Your favorite shredder?

Love some of the same mentioned already, like Petrucci, Satriani, Timmons, as I LOVE melody infused with shred. Another one I love is Michael Romeo. Such a fantastic guitar player!

    First Friedman Jose vid.

Steve doesn't hang out on the forums much at all anymore. I believe he stopped building them a couple of years back. I'm not sure if it was ever intended to be a long-term project. He was talented and his amps sounded great!

    First Friedman Jose vid.

I think it sounds great! I don't think it sounds any better than many other Marshall/Jose variants out there. I doubt I will ever own a Friedman amp. Cool amps but just not my thing. However, the one amp that intrigues me is the Friedman Plex. Side note, I like Michael. I interacted with him...

What do you guys like as a high gain JCM800?

3rd Power makes some great Marshall variants. I have the Kitchen Sink and I get great Marshall-esque tones. The gain channel was based more on a Plexi circuit but it behaves in a way like a Swiss Army knife for Marshall tones. Try one out if you can.

    Live AIC from 1993

Man, they were so raw and heavy for that period. We Die Young sounds awesome here!
