Mojotone vintage taper CTS pots. They consistently measure close to the rated value and seem to last pretty well. I keep a stash of short and long 250k and 500k and change out all the electronics in any guitar I buy unless its a vintage piece.

Grounding the green/white junction as shown in the diagram with the push/pull pots will leave the screw coil active. Same for both neck and bridge pickups.

Only issue I've ever heard of ( and have seen and repaired ) is guys sticking El34's in the OG EVH 6l6 100watter, and melting the traces around the fuse holders for the heater circuit. That is not the amps fault. The EVH line is solid. Don't do anything dumb, and you shouldn't have any issues.
