Here's a test with p90's and a Diezel VH4. Not trying to show off and might not be your cup of tea, but it works great. I'm recording a lot of blues rock lately with the VH4 and p90' (or 94's) combo and it sounds very good to the ears of everyone involved in the recordings. kcjJ_7zfM64

The fact that you are not using a cab has nothing to do with any clipping/ distortion you might get unless you are not using the equipment (Palmer in this case) properly. This sounds to me like you are connecting the Palmer improperly to your daw: causing a ground issue with your sound card or...

I do record a lot of cleans with the VH4 and the Palmer using paf style pickups and some folk (including me) prefers its cleans to fenders. Follow Peter's recommendation and you will get great clean tones out of the VH4.

haha that is true. It would have caused the other guys to evacuate the room. It was a test on a micing isolation room with a mic 1,5 m away from the cab. Have no clue what mic was it to support such high spl. It sounded mean and I was wondering if for a recording session of few hours the tubes...

VH4 with the master volume on 10. That was neat with channel 2 engaged. What can I expect regarding the life time of the powertubes? Are there risks for the amp provided that it is plugged to the right cab? Peter could you please chime in?

Forget the axe fx and buy a Diezel instead :D
