I have a VH4 and a Hagen and had an Einstein in the past, in my opinion all these amps can sound quite raw. The thing is that most of the folks scoop the mids too much and use high output pickups, in that scenario they are not so raw sounding. With a good amount of mids dialed in and medium/low...
A big no comments to this one above...
This, it was exactly the same for me. I also felt that how close the profile is to the real amp, depends a lot on the amp. For some amps the profiles lay closer for other amps they are far off. Never heard a convincing profile of my Diezels VH4 and Hagen...
It is already a fact? Where? I can hear and "feel" a big difference and hate the eq thing on the kemper. I couldn't care less for what the others could hear, I prefer the feeling and tone of my tube amps.
As for the carrying around, some day you'll be playing the recorder on stage right? Even...
The Kemper EQ does not have the same Q, Phase factor etc of my amps, and that kills it for me when I want to eq in the Kemper. I can live with the small ac power differences and their effects in my tube amps, but the Kemper eq being far off from my amps eq is a no go. In fact ac power effects in...
For me tube amps, always. Want consistency cab/mic wise just plug a cab sim device between the amp and the cab and it's done. I use a Two Notes torpedo Live for that purpose now, but used the Palmer stuff in the past.
Thanks guys!
Yes, the Diezels are among the most versatile out there. Great for every genre, just a matter of using the right cab for the job.
That's nice, I aimed at the tool type of sound :) But with only one mic-cab at the time in the studio it can get tricky though.
Thanks! Glad you're digging it :)
I agree, the VH4 is so much more than only a high gain amp. For me it feels like a modern take (or improvement) on the classic rock sound. It can do everything well done, love that amp.
Testing my VH4 onto the two notes tp live using the mesa stock cab. How does it sound for you guys? Have not used a lot the stock cabs (have been using almost exclusively the redwirez stuff) but am exploring the stock ones now.

Thanks, nice tips. Next time I'll bias mine I'll try at band volumes and lower even more the bias. The too dense mids at hot bias values that you talk about was why I went to experiment with a colder bias and "problem" solved :)
That is how I use my VH4 as well. I use all channels almost equally. I'm loving the cleans with 6L6 and the BearFoot pale green compressor in the cleans loop. But when going for such low bias currents don't you start to get some fizziness in the high end?
A couple of months ago I've tried JJ 6L6 tubes in my VH4 and am loving it. I was running the bias at 66 mA (pair) but yesterday tried sinking the bias. After some testing got to the sweet spot of to 61 mA (if we want to be pedantic 61.4 ^^ ). And that's tonal heaven for me! Tighter bottom end...
