I like it. I don't love it though. I think his band should just be called Mammoth, not Mammoth WVH. The WVH added is like saying look at me! I'm Eddie's son. Good for marketing though so I guess it makes sense from that perspective.
Its funny. 99% of all the classics (overdrives mostly) sound great right out of the box and don't need to modified IMO. It's not like Engineers didn't know what they were doing back then and now everything needs to be fixed. Pedal modding is so dumb BUT, I'm sure there are some exceptions...
I have a very heavy pick hand that helps drives my Superlead nicely into distortion w/ a great tone. When friends play through it with a very light pick hand (bitchpicker LOL), they wonder why my amp sounds so different and less distorted / thin and weak. Tone is definitely in the hands as...
so i tried my old Ibanez digital delay again but with the Bray Line Out level turned down to about 9 o’clock. The delay behaved a lot more normal and the repeats sounded more up front and not so distant. I have the delay level at noon and it’s a nice balance .
I have the save amp. These days whenever i blow a power tube, I simply replace it with a spare of any brand and as long as it doesn’t red plate & sounds ok , i’m done.
assuming there are no other damage of course.
It crazy to buy four new tubes if only one was bad.
Tubes don’t have to be well...
Yea I figured my poor old delay isn't up to that type of setup. LOL Thanks for suggestions. I'm looking into getting a TC Electronics Flashback and see how that works if adjusting my line level doesn't work out.
My tech told me to set my amp to 8 ohms going into my 16 ohm 4x12 many years ago. It does sound a little warmer (better to me) that way but I often wondered if it stresses the amp as mine seems to run pretty hot. The PT gets hot anyway. My OT stays pretty cool.
I tried that but it aounds 100% better with the superlead's sound bypassing the amp's preamp section.
right now at noon but got similar results at about 9 o'clock.
yes sounds amazing! volume level is good too.
Not sure because all volume levels are fine, it just seems like the delay repeats...
It is post loop.
yes that's what I do. everything sounds incredible except for when I try my two delays. I read that TC Electronic tone print series pedals are designed to except line level or instrument level so maybe I'll give those a try.
Oh I forgot to mention I tried an old ART reverb unit that has options for instrument and line level input & outputs. when I selected instrument level out into my pedals, they sounded great but the volume loss was terrible with an instruemnt level going into the DSL's FX return. The DSL's FX...
Thanks for replies! My set up actually sounds awesome with the line level (David Bray Line Out Box) from the superlead into the DSL's FX return. The Superlead's tone is not colored or affected in any way going into the DSL's FX return. Just certain effects don't want to work with a line...
I have a Marshall Superlead that I'm tapping a line out from into some pedals and then into the FX return on my DSL40CR. It;s a wet /dry rig but the "wet" side isn't 100% wet, its got a good mix of the dry sound too.
Please look at my diagram. Do I need to use certain types (brands) of...
