I had the bigger brother, the TM30. Sounded great indeed. Only downside was the lack of channel switching. And aside from reverb, no further onboard fx. But for pure, analog, tube like tone, one of the better ones for sure.
The intro of this song (before the guitars kick in) sounds exactly like the music they used when Michael Knight (or the A-Team for that matter) was scanning the surroundings of an 'abandoned' shed in some dusty town, where some real estate mogul/parttime crook was terrorizing the locals. :giggle:
Doh! o_O
I've worked with this stuff in elementary school even. Indeed written with it. We call 'East-Indian ink' and for some reason I didn't make the connection to India ink.
But yeah, good to know you can use this to stain fretboards. I got a Burny Les Paul Custom in black with a rosewood fb...
Ehm... What is India ink? Is it specific for instrument making or also used for furniture? Honestly never heard of it. And for the record, it grinds my gears as well.
Loose yes, but huge sounding, far from it...at least in my experience. Tried it in a Les Paul too. Couldn't sell it fast enough. It's very spongey in its response, but very bland.
In this case, there are many options that are affordable and an improvement!
I'd start with replacing those Monster cables with Sommer Spirit XXL or Klotz LaGrange (AC110). And as for Hosa, even Cordial or Mogami would be better I guess. I do have some patch cables for my homestudio from Hosa...
I'll second the SH14 Custom5. It's beefy, not too overpowered, and the low end is not as loose as the JB's.
ToneZone is an option, but in the wrong guitar it would become muddy probably.
Have you considered the DiMarzio Breed Bridge? It's big sounding, but also quite polite. So I figure for hard...
Well, can you name one album from, say, '78 to '82 with the same level of gain (so less than VH, probably slightly more than AC/DC basically), but with that same chewiness? And sure the songs rock well, so that helps...but for me, the tone definitely stands out.
To be fair, I think they lost...
Not just crunchy, but magically very chewy and juicy at the same time.
Interested to know if anyone knows what Steve Clarke was using gear/signal wise, aside from a Les Paul into a Marshall?
Duncan: Pearly Gates neck and Screamin' Demon
DiMarzio: DP103 36th Anniv PAF, Air Norton and Breed neck, but...the Breed neck needs to be in the right guitar.
In my Charvel So Cal it was so so, a bit too jangly up top (alder body, maple neck, bolt on neck and Floyd Rose probably all added to...
Oh he'll probably label this as 'hatin' ' or something... These days calling someone out on their BS is either jealousy, bigotry, misogyny, racism, etc....
To think that someone would actually own up to their doings/mistakes... you know, like not releasing a video with 5 high-output humbuckers...
Wassup @Bad.Seed :p
I figured that 'rent' is due, so lemme do a little pet peeve of mine about EVERYONE doing something wrong...
Difference is, I won't go against my own advice two weeks later. :ROFLMAO:
Anyway, on topic:

If you're looking at the Powerball, I'd go for version 2. Less clinical.
Powerball I was also known for not cutting through a mix next to some bog standard Marshalls.
I've played in a Twisted Sister tribute for a year and the other guy had a PB I...I had to help him with the tone shaping, since...
FWIW, I found the MXR Analog Chorus having one of the best base-tones, but... the bypass sucks big time! Major tone-suck. It's weird that they didn't make this one true bypass like the Bass Chorus or the Micro Flanger. I noticed it in the bypassable fx-loop of my EVH 5150 50W; with the pedal off...
Here's is 4 of mine (yes Dan, this is my flex :p...a mint silver screw MIJ Boss CE-2 with original box and papers  ) and I recently added a vintage TC SCF as well.
Still looking to score a DC-2 some day. Had the Anadime ADC-3 and 4, but sold them. They sounded great clean, but so-so with...
That was my feeling to some extent as well with the SE EL34 I had for a while. Cleans were really nice (but then again, so are those on my Invader), but the Crunch channel was not quite what I was looking for in a multi-channel amp, and Lead I and II were brutal, but in high gain mode easily too...
There are some functions of the 120 that I'd like to have, but the 60 is extremely versatile. Heck, I've played in a soul/funk coverband (weddings, new years eve stuff n' shit) with the Savage 60 and a strat about 20 years ago. :ROFLMAO:
It still does the cascading gain thing (where Rhythm...
