Back from the dead, any new opinions on the current front loaded Bogner Uberkab/412ST vs Diezel 412 FK?
I had a Fatbottom 412, I liked how tight and clinical it was but it wasn’t resonant enough for me. I bet if I would have removed the internal brace it would have sounded better.
I’m not too...
But have you tried the post 2017 EMG’s with the EMG PA2 or EMG AB boost? You add the right amount of boost and I swear it sounds just like the old EMG’s. And with the PA2 + newer EMG’s you flick the switch and have lower gain allowing better clean tones than you had with the old EMG’s.
IME, Distortion Pedals are designed to go into the clean channel of an amp, Preamp Pedals are designed to go into the power amp (effects return or a standalone power amp).
I’ve got a V-Type, it’s way darker than a V30. It’s one of the darkest speakers I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of different speakers. Avatar M65 was the only other speaker that was that dark. The V-Type sounds like a Celestion. Been a while since I’ve had any V30’s but I can say the V-Type...
I’ve used Scotch Mount 30lb foam tape to mount a pickup with no tabs. You can add layers if u need to increase pickup height. It will hold solid if the surfaces are clean.
This. Ppl selling amps ‘cause “it’s too dark”, “too scooped”, “too honky”. Preposterous. Find an amp with the gain structure and dynamic response you like and throw an EQ on that bitch. FFS.
I will say though, every amp should come with a post preamp graphic EQ,
OP, there’s a big difference between placing the EQ before the amp input versus placing it in the effects loop. In the loop allows you to tweak what you’re already used to hearing from the amp and has a more dramatic effect. Placing it before the amp is like reshaping how your actual guitar...
EVM12L
EVM12S
EV SRO (ceramic version)
Redback
Mojotone Greyhound - only 70w but sounds really clean
12L vs 12S: 12S is more efficient, more mids, warmer, smoother, less tight, not as hi-fi.
The EV’s share a similar voicing, just like all Celestions do, but the 12S does not otherwise sound...
Maybe heat the whole pickup after its wound and bend it into a curved shape? Using stand in dummy pole pieces so you don’t destroy the magnets. Or wind it by hand and insert brace pieces connected to a backing that hold the concave side in place.
So you can have a non linear, exponential difference between strings. For example, imagine a 6 string pickup, already on an angle, but the pole pieces for the high and low string deviate from that angle and are on a more extreme angle than the rest. You could have an exponential response. I...
Obviously you can angle them, but can they be built curved? Like, say, in sort of a Nike swoosh shape, or sort of an “S” shape? Non linear pickups, is it possible?
Tube failures I’ve had:
JJ KT88, immediate faliure, glass exploded, fire, destroyed my bias probe. That was 12 years ago.
PSVANE KT88, immediate failure, bright flash. I’ll never know what these sound like, very wary now.
SOVTEK KT88, I’ve had many of these last long & sound good but last...
That might be the same Fusion Deluxe I have. Head stock is also sparkly blue, white logo. Great sounding guitar, mine paired well with a SD Distortion. Stock Jackson pickup sounded weird but apparently ppl dig em, I got some bucks for it.
You would route into the cutaway and have a pickup ring...
How about this? In just 2 sentences he informs us that guitar heroes existed before him, he became one, and there have been none after him. Pfffft, lol, like there’s not a hundred players that came after him that wipe the floor with his ass...
I’ve been using a Standard as a preamp into real tube power amp and cab for the past 12 years and it has yet to be dethroned. I had the FM3 but couldn’t get it to sound as good even after a bazillion hours of tweaking. DM me your email if you want my death metal rhythm patch.
Make sure to try...
